From a German Frers design VIRIELLA is the buttonhole of Maxi Dolphin’s new production line now ranging from 65’ up to 118’ for semi-custom boat series. Realized by the Erbusco’s Boatyard “by itself”, this big boat – which made her “entry into society” on the occasion of the Rolex Cup at Portocervo 2001, with Gigio Russo at the helm and Vittorio Mariani as tactician, and which immediately after was admired at the races in Saint Tropez too – after an exhaustive test series, among these the above mentioned races were an integral and of prime importance part, was finally put on the market.
Constructed with composite material, 36 metres length overall for 8 metres with maximum beam, the Maxi Dolphin VIRIELLA has a sloop rig with mast and boom in Carbon fibre by Southern Spars from New Zealand, deck gear and winches by Harken and sails by North Sails Italia.
The sail plan and the entire rigging have been designed to make handling the yacht as easy as possible; and a crew of four is really sufficient to comfortably sail her on a cruise. The bulb sliding fin is mobile and can be adjusted to obtain a maximum draft of 5.50 metres during the sailing and a minimum of 3.50 metres when sailing in shallow waters. Besides the 550 hp main engine VIRIELLA has at her disposal also a 130 hp auxiliary engine which supplies power to the hydraulic circuit that handles the fin piston, the sail plan rigging and the stern hatch; to the auxiliary engine is driven the bow propeller, which can be used both to help manoeuvring and to provide extra thrust, if necessary, when under power.
The very modern and stylish interior has been designed by Maxi Dolphin and is based on maximum simplicity. The light coloured wood used – maple and pear – make the interior full of light and design a pleasant contrast with the on sight construction details in Carbon fibre. The interior compartmentation is centred on a forward sleeping area – including the large owner’s cabin with its annexed studio, two guest double cabins and one guest cabin with three beds – and on a living area in the middle of the yacht, composed by a large saloon taken up in the deck-house, leading to the dining room located towards stern on the starboard side. The crew’s quarters, two cabins and a bathroom, are located in the stern area. | ||
