Zina is a Farr 56 Pilot House Yacht built by BSI Marine of Sweden in 2001. She was designed by of one of the world's leading yacht designers and constructed to a very high standard by some of the world's leading craftsmen. The yacht has been fitted out to provide eight berths in four separate cabins, while still retaining plenty of stowage space all the equipment necessary for extended offshore cruising.
The interior bulkheads and joinery have been finished to a very high standard with top quality mahogany timber. The sole throughout the yacht is a very attractive traditional teak and holly finish, with all hinged lifting panels to gain access to bilge space and skin fittings.
The layout starting at the bow comprises of the following;
A large anchor locker is located at the bow and is accessible via twin teak laid grp hatches. The anchor locker has a foam filled collision void at its base and is shaped to prevent the anchor chain from “pyramiding”, thus ensuring that the chain will always pay out smoothly. This anchor locker is self-draining and is separated from the adjacent workshop/sail locker by a full height watertight bulkhead.
The workshop / Sail stowage area is accessible from the deck via a teak laid aluminum Rondial hatch. The workshop is finished with a teak floor and is fitted with lockers and a teak workbench.
To port you have a twin cabin with upper and lower berths and to starboard there is a double guest cabin with en-suite toilet and shower. This cabin also has a pipe cot over the berth. There is an additional day heads just aft of the twin cabin on the port side. All cabins have ample stowage.
To the starboard of the main bulkhead is an additional double cabin. This cabin is located under the saloon seating and is very near the center of the yacht and therefore is often referred to as a “storm berth” as it offers minimal motion in even the worst of sea states. There is a large stowage drawer located under the berth to provide very accessible stowage.
The saloon and navigation station is located in the Pilot House area. The holly and teak sole has a large trap door which lifts easily on gas struts to give access to the lead, foam and aluminium lined acoustic baffled engine room. The engine room is located immediately above the keel with the stainless steel water and diesel tanks outboard. This arrangement not only allows the weight to be kept in the center of the yacht were it is most needed but also provides unparalleled access for maintenance in a yacht of this size.
The navigation station is located on the port side and is fitted with a leather covered swivel chair. In addition to a chart table for traditional paper charts, the navigation station is fitted with an electronic chart plotter and other instruments detailed elsewhere.
The saloon sofa and saloon table is located on the starboard side of the Pilot House and offers a panoramic view of the outside world through the Pilot House windows. The upholstery has been renewed in the past two years.
The galley and aft cabin companionway is located on the port side of the yacht. This area again is located low down and very near the center of the yacht to ensure that meals can safely and easily produced should the roughest of conditions be encountered while offshore sailing.
The galley companionway is wider than on many yachts allowing unimpeded access to the aft cabins while someone is working in the galley. In addition to the standard twin stainless steel sinks set in a Corian worktop, the galley has been fitted with a fridge and freezer as well as a microwave.
There are ample drawers, cupboards with pegboard bases and stowage cupboards above and below the Corian worktop for all necessary crockery and cutlery as well as provisions.
The machinery room is located inboard of the galley, under the cockpit. There is an insulated door at the aft end of the galley, which provides access to this area. The generator and hydraulic powerpack are located in this machinery room.
The aft owners accommodation comprises of a centreline Kingsize berth in an extremely spacious cabin with plenty of stowage, hanging lockers and an en-suite toilet and shower. The size of this cabin is really a key point in the design of the Farr 56 Pilot House and you will be hard pressed to find another cabin equal in size on any boat of a similar length.
The en-suite has a separate shower with a ridged Perspex door and the heads is a freshwater Vacuflush system. There is a Kenny washing machine located in the heads area.
Aft of these double cabins is a very large lazerette that is accessed via two teak laid aluminum Rondal teak deck hatches. Outboard of these hatches and the lazerette are
A grp lined locker that self drain over the side. The port locker is a dedicated gas locker and the starboard can be used for storing petrol for the outboard or for other inflammable materials.
