If your dream is of long range cruising but your budget can't afford a Kadey-Krogen or Nordhavn, then GWENDOLYN may be a perfect choice for you. Without a doubt, she is one of the nicest home-built steel trawlers we have ever seen. Her construction process was monitored routinely by one of Eastern Ontario's foremost surveyors who was very impressed by the quality of her build. She also comes with a complete set of documentation that covers her design, materials used, operating instructions, maintenance requirements, etc.

GWENDOLYN has had a recent pre-sale survey in November 2015 by a qualified surveyor who is very familiar with steel and aluminum vessels. He noted her to be in BRISTOL condition. A copy of the survey is available to those who are seriously interested.

All living space is down below. The saloon is aft with a couch that doubles as a queen-size bed. The bottom half pulls out for use as a trundle bed. Two swivel chairs, a TV, stereo and built-in desk surrounded by bookshelves finish off this area.

There is one large head to starboard. It has a ceramic tile sole, lots of counter and storage space plus a generous stainless steel shower. Heading forward toward the master stateroom, there are three good-sized bunks in two areas to starboard, each with shelves and portholes. The master stateroom at the bow has a queen-size bed with lots of storage.

Oak is the main interior wood. Cork is used on the galley sole and white matte paint is used overhead. The galley/dinette area features a very large galley with a three-burner propane stove, a deep stainless steel sink, a large chest fridge/freezer and an amazing amount of counter and storage areas.

The pilothouse is 9 feet by 6 feet with a full complement of electronic instrumentation, a chart table, a desk, and general storage. The doors open to port and starboard and are screened to allow an evening breeze to blow through without accumulating any local airborne wildlife.

The cockpit has an outdoor helm plus room for lounge chairs and a small dining table. There is a newer canvas bimini for sun protection making it a great place to read, barbecue or just relax. There’s more chair space on the bow plus a bench under the pilothouse windows.

With her efficient 150 hp John Deere diesel and her 1400 gallons of fuel, she definitely can be termed as a Long Range Cruiser. According to her owner, she burns approximately 2.5 gallons per hour at 8.0 knots which gives her a range of 3500 miles at a half-decent speed. GWENDOLYN is a perfect candidate for those looking for a good-quality, freshwater-water only, steel trawler to take them wherever they want to go.
