Thunder is a Custom Mills 37. She underwent a massive refit in 2010, Fitting a steering pedastle, respraying the decks, the Rig, and topsides. She was Preparing to do a season of Short handed sailing, so they also built an offshore hatch cover.
The Pedigree of the boat is a good one. Mark Mills is one of the Leading designers for Offshore and Inshore Race boats. and Specialises in the IRC Rule.
Thunder has won her class in both Cowes week and Fastnet, Proving that she is a race winner.
Currently the boat is not optimised for irc to the full extent. There are a few small measurements that need to be rethought,(mainly to do with Sail areas) This is a very cheap process,
Thunder is a Race winner. Even with the Rating a little high she can still sail well to this. As an overall IRC boat meeting all wind ranges, I would be as bold to Say she is one of the best designed boats in the Solent. Anyone who buys her will be very close to the top of the fleet with just turning up.
The Sails in the Inventory labelled 2010 have been very lightly used, The current owners were very conservative with their double handed sailing, however when sailing the fastnet 2011 they found themselves leading their class for a while before they sailed into a breathless hole.
All the spinnikars were very lightly Used, and barely touched during the Round Britian and Ireland race.
