Price Reduced April 12, 2013 The J46 was awarded Cruising World magazine’s prestigious “Best in Class” award in 2000 for good reason. As the judges stated “sailing the J/46 confirmed quickly for us that it's a beautiful, well tooled cruising yacht with the balanced responsiveness of a performance racer. The J/46 is first-class all-around.” Steering this boat will definitely delight the cruiser who loves to sail. Living aboard this elegant yacht will definitely delight the racer who may just get used to the comforts of fast cruising. And, owning this easily handled, economical to operate sailboat may just prolong the older, lifelong sailor’s purchase of a trawler.” In 2005 the current owner searched for a yacht to replace his C&C 121. He sought higher quality, better performance, a more comfortable interior and cockpit. A J/46 was an obvious choice and of the half dozen available, BEAUTY was the hands down winner. Her original owner spec’d out a very beautiful cruiser/racer with powered primary winches, comprehensive electronics, Liesurefurl boom, and carbon mast. This second, and current, owner sailed BEAUTY from San Diego to Seattle. She’s been cruised each summer and lightly raced locally in the Pacific Northwest since 2005 and has moored on freshwater in Lake Washington. For ease of handling she’s fitted with a Liesurefurl mainsail. In 2006 she won her class in the Swiftsure Race. In 2011 a new Yanmar engine was installed at Delta Marine in Seattle. This new engine is more efficient and quieter than the original. When I sailed and photographed BEAUTY last week, I was very impressed by her condition. The black hull is stunning and nicely accentuates her sleek lines. Her interior is free of water damage, dings and discoloration. The upholstery looks as new. The engine and machinery are free of rust and corrosion.
