This boat is a sail-away cruiser, ready to go, and even includes linens, dishes, flatware, cooking utensils and PFDs. The Hunter Marine Group excels at providing the accommodations and equipment the modern sailor is looking for in a cruising yacht. The Passage 420 offers two very comfortable staterooms, each with its own private head w/shower. The interior is teak with a teak/holly sole and 6’ 5” head room in aft cabin and 6’ 6” in main salon. There is LED lighting throughout.
Forward, is the comfortable guest stateroom with its double pullman berth starboard and ensuite head w/shower in the forepeak. Spacious and comfortable this stateroom also boasts generous storage, plenty of natural light and ventilation. There are several drawers under the berth and a hanging locker with settee opposite. Both the stateroom and the private head/shower have overhead Lewmar hatches.
Next aft, is the large main saloon with oyster-colored leather upholstery. She has ample room for 6 at the oval teak dining table which converts to an extra sleeping double-berth if required, and is a comfortable place to enjoy movies on the LCD TV and BluRay. The port side has a straight settee. The saloon has amazing light from a variety of hatches, ports and the double “windshield”. This natural light is completely controlled with blinds and full covers for the windshields. The companionway is at the aft of the saloon.
To Starboard of the companionway is the nav station with chart-sized desk and contoured teak seat. The chart desk has LED lighting with the Radar and VHF close at hand. This is also where the stereo is located. The house inverter is under the seat, with a large locker aft of the seat.
Opposite the Nav Station is her spacious L-shaped gourmet galley with lots of storage. The chef's galley includes a top-loading freezer with an adjoining refrigerator that has both top and front access, a gimballed three-burner propane stove with oven, microwave and twin stainless sinks. You will even find a hidden trash receptacle under Corian worktops on teak cabinets, with everything arranged for the maximum efficiency suggests a chef's touch in the design.
Amidships and aft of the companionway, the main engine and the generator are housed one above the other. There is access to all four sides of the Yanmar main and three sides of the Northern Lights genset. Located on the starboard side of this enclosure is the electrical panel, charger/inverter controls, tank gauges and battery switches.
All the way aft is her master stateroom, making use of the full width of the boat. There is 6’5” headroom when standing at the foot of the centerline queen-sized berth. The remaining space includes nightstands both port and starboard, a pullout desk doubling as a dressing table and storage everywhere. A private ensuite head features plenty of storage, beautiful Corian vanity and shower. The centreline queen is a premium Sealy OptiCool (new 2016).
Aft, he walk-up “sugar-scoop” transom features two large storage lockers, dockside freshwater hook-up, a swim platform w/stainless telescoping ladder, hot & cold pressurized fresh-water shower, shore power inlets and the access port for an emergency tiller. This stern doubles as your dingy dock providing the luxury of stepping out of the tender and walking directly up to the aft deck. There is full stand-up clearance under the dingy davits and solar panel.
Forward of this, the big aft deck has two stern-rail double seats, two trolling rod holders, the outboard motor lift to port and the gas barbecue to starboard. The aft deck is free of standing rigging thanks to the Selden B&R rig.
Midships, ahead of the aft deck is the huge centre cockpit featuring a bimini top w/Stratoglass windshield and full cockpit Stratoglass enclosure (all new 2016) The enclosure fully protects the companionway, all instrument displays and engine controls. The Whitlock steering pedestal features a folding wheel and a fold-up cockpit table with fold-out leaves and cup holders. The high coamings surrounding the cockpit contains two storage lockers and 2 line storage wells. The emergency tiller is located in a coaming locker. There is an LP locker under the port side seat holding two, 10-pound aluminum tanks. Completing the cockpit are 8 Lewmar self tailing winches and 8 line clutches. All sail-handling is done without leaving the cockpit and while staying warm and dry.
Ahead of the cockpit is the deck-stepped Selden mast w/all lines led to the cockpit clutches.
Forward, the foredeck is uncluttered and boasts a large, deep chain locker. The locker lid is flush with the deck and covers the locker, a large anchoring cleat, the windless, the foot controls and the raw-water deck/anchor wash down.
The hull has fresh bottom paint (2018) and new zincs (2018). Topsides have been polished (2018). All navigation and work lights are LED.
The chef's galley, situated to port at the foot of the companionway contains all the modern labor and time saving utilities one would expect ashore. It features a side by side, dual opening (new in 2011) FrigoBoat refrigerator and freezer, three burner gimbaled propane stove with oven, microwave and twin stainless sinks. You will even find a hidden trash receptacle. Corian worktops on teak cabinets with everything arranged for the maximum efficiency suggests a chef's touch in the design.
