Few yacht brand names make a statement like Hinckley. Dropping the word "Hinckley" into a conversation about yachts, is like dropping the word "Rolex" into a conversation about watches or the word "Ferrari" into one about cars. Owners of all three are people who take pleasure and pride in what they own, who coddle and care for their possessions, and who enjoy hearing the envious reaction of onlookers, usually a heartfelt "Wow!"
This fresh water, one-owner, professionally maintained 2000 Hinckley Picnic Boat earns every "Wow!" A surveyor who recently completed a complete review of "Mate" concluded, among other things, that "the interior of the vessel appears new." He also valued the yacht at $50,000 more than the owner is now asking for it. In short, you can get the "Wow" without the "Ow!" (That survey is available for your review.)
With its classic Downeast style, black moss green hull, furniture finish woodwork, rich upholstery, powerful hydro-jet Yanmar diesel power, and joy-stick control, this yacht makes extraordinary any voyage. Skim across the lake or sound on a picnic with friends or weekend cruise in the San Juans. The private yacht of a distinguished Seattle family, this yacht has been gently used, beautifully kept, and has tasted salt for only a few hours. "Mate" did live through one harrowing episode that left no scars. Ask us about the muskrat.

You will be hard-pressed to distinguish this one-owner, professionally maintained yacht from a new one costing hundreds of thousands of dollars more. While most Hinckley owners take care of their craft, some do it better than others. "Mate" illustrates the point, from the gleaming stainless steel anchor to the bright trailing edge of the swim step.
While a sprawling cockpit helps earn the Picnic Boat title, this yacht goes well beyond picnics to provide luxurious accommodations for overnight explorations of our Northwest waters. And any voyage becomes easier and more enjoyable with full array of quality cruising gear -- chartplotter, radar, autopilot, inverter, forced air diesel heat, bow thruster, joystick, custom anchoring package, refrigeration, propane stove, Vacuflush head, to name a few.
A marriage of traditional design and high tech engineering, "Mate" is better equipped, newer, and has fewer engine hours than other Hinckley's on the NW market. Call today for your opportunity to view and own this modern classic. And remember to ask us about the muskrat.
The Hinckley Picnic Boat's combination of beauty, strength and performance begins with superior high-gloss gelcoat, vacuum bagged Kevlar composite hull laminated with blister resistant vinylester resin, an easy riding flared bow with a modified-vee to flat bottom, well suited to the 420 horsepower Yanmar engine,Twin-Disc MG-5050 transmission and Hamilton Jet Model 292 hydrojet drive. The cockpit and deck are molded fiberglass laminated with polyester resin. Gelcoat imprinted in appropriate areas with an effective non-skid pattern creates safe footing. The custom bow-sprit and electric windlass were installed in 2008. High-grade teak bulkheads, furnishings and trim are superbly varnished throughout the interior and exterior.
Understandably, a Picnic Boat's layout focuses on an accommodating cockpit and pilothouse. A handsomely upholstered central lounge above the engine enclosure is adaptable to create forward and aft facing seating or -- by removing a bolster -- a stretch-out napping or sunning platform. Further aft, a full-width settee stretches across the transom. Between the two, a beautiful teak table hinged to the lounge, can be unfolded to its full upright and locked position for picnic time or happy hour. Forward of the engine enclosure and under the shelter of the pilothouse, the helmchair to starboard and a back-to-back seat to port offer comfortable seating out of the sun or -- as we undertand occasionly occurs locally -- rain.
The helm -- like the rest of the cockpit ,encircled in richly varnished wood -- bears special mention for its comfort, efficient layout, and excellent 360-degree visibility. You can use the wheel but may find yourself relying often on the Jet Drive joy-stick, particularly in harbors and other tight areas where it provides a remarkable degree of manueverability by linking the hydrojet steering to the bow thruster. Two overhead hatches and sliding glass side windows provide pilothouse ventilation. Heat's provided by the yacht's Espar D3CL diesel furnace.
A louvered companionway door leads you below to the inviting interior, with its fully equipped galley, comfortable head, and forward vee berth. Properly placed lighting fixtures, the Espar heat system, opening ports and hatches and other thoughtful touches add to the comforts. As the recent surveyor said, it's all "like new."

A Few More Notes
This has been a family yacht kept in covered yacht club moorage during the off-season and at the family's lakefront dock during the rest of the year. Used mostly for day-trips on Lake Washington, it has gone through the locks annually for service at Seaview Boatyard, the only times it has been in salt water. However, with over 160 gallons of fuel capacity, 45 gallons of water, and a 35-gallon waste tank, it is capable of much more extensive cruising. It was last bottom painted last fall with Sea Hawk Smart Solutions and has epoxy coating under the paint. In short, this Hinckley is ready to become your "Mate".
