Design and Construction
The 48 Classic hull is a true Full Displacement trawler hull. With her wineglass transom, short radius bilges, fine forward entry, and ideal displacement-to-length ratio, she has the absolute best possible seakindly ride, directional stability, fuel efficiency and the maximum space below the waterline for tankage and supplies.
The hull and deckhouse are constructed of high-quality hand laid fiberglass laminate. The hull topsides and deck house utilize PVC closed-cell cored laminates to reduce weight, lower the center of gravity and provide thermal insulation. Solid fiberglass laminate is used in the hull below the waterline.
An engineered fiberglass girder system effectively distributes hull loads throughout the hull and bulkhead system. Encapsulated hardwood girder inserts provide solid attachment points for machinery and cast lead ballast conforming to the hull helps further lower the center of gravity.
The well thought out design and engineering and the use of high quality material throughout ensure this 48 Classic is the finest and safest trawler yacht available.
