Designed as a semi-displacement cruiser the Dufour ACM Heritage 26 is a unique offering in powerboat of this size range. Her design with deep-v sections forward and flatter sections aft with pronounced chine running along the waterline provide a very sea kindly ride in even choppy seas. Unlike other planning hulls of this size she doesn't bounce and bang over swell but rather chops her way through through the waves sparing her crew the violent and uncomfortable motion often a feature of cruisers in this size range. With accommodation provided for 4, spacious cockpit, full walk round side decks and comprehensive inventory the boat is ideally suited to coastal weekend cruising.
Wintering ashore here at Ardfern, 'Tegan' is available to view.

The Heritage 26 is well laid out on deck with much of the design ques taken from her larger sisters with features not often found on a boat of 26'. The deck moulding is finished in an off white gelcoat with moulded in non-slip panels providing crew with a sure footing while moving around on deck. A solid hardwood capping rail sits on top of the gunwales, running the full length of the hull astride which is secured the solid stainless steel tubular guardrail.
Moving around the boat is unusually easy for a motor boat of this size with wide side decks being provided either side of the of the raised wheel house. Forward of the wheel house the low profile coachroof extends well forward and is largely unobstructed apart from a deck hatch letting light into the forepeak. The low profile Lewmar electric windlass is mounted centrally forward with the anchor chain stowing directly into the anchor locker beneath, accessible through and opening deck hatch. With a single bow roller the anchor can be secured on deck when using a mooring.
Spanning the full width of the boat aft the cockpit is generously sized with gunwales of a practical height to keep crew secure regardless of the weather. The wheelhouse roof extends aft beyond the accommodation space providing some shelter to the forward end of the cockpit. Hardwood steps provide easy access up onto the side decks while standalone seat boxes are secured port and starboard, providing seating and additional handy storage. A large deck hatch in the sole provides access to a large storage locker of sufficient volume to store a deflated dinghy and outboard if required.
A transom door provides direct access from the cockpit to the transom bathing platform while a sliding door at the forward end provided access forward into the accommodation space.

The interior is constructed of a GRP moulding with varnished timber forming the furniture and a traditional style laid sole boards. The light and airy feel of the living space makes this boat feel far larger than her 26'
The wheelhouse area is laid out with a storage unit running along the port side providing useful locker space. The two burner gas cooker is mounted on the work surface top at the forward end while the aft section flips up to provide access to the stainless steel sink with hot and cold water faucet. To starboard a forward facing seat is located at the aft end of the space with a compact table immediately forward. The forward bench seat doubles as an aft facing seat for using the table or the helmsman's seat. The seating converts to provide a compact double berth when required.
With a full depth windscreen spanning the full width of the wheelhouse forward and windows running the length of the structure, port and starboard the internal helm position has full 360 vision around the boat. The helm station has a raised dash which accommodates all navigation instrumentation along with engine controls, gauges, windlass and bow thruster controls; all within easy reach. Over head a large opening skylight provides additional light and additional ventilation in warm weather.
