The Beneteau Oceanis 321 “Canada Goose” is an aft cockpit shallow draft cruising yacht with wheel steering. She is the two aft cabin version and gives the impression of being a bigger boat. Designed by Groupe Finot and built by Beneteau in 1997 for the ’98 London Boat Show - launched 1998.

White GRP hull with burgundy & yellow style lines. Cast iron external shallow fin keel with winglets. Semi balanced spade rudder with wheel steering and emergency tiller. White GRP deck, superstructure and draining aft cockpit. Moulded non slip deck surfaces. Teak laid cockpit seats. GRP internal moulding with wild cherry stained joinery. Sugar scoop stern with rubber fender. Underwater surfaces Coppercoated in 2011.
Volvo 2030 28HP three cylinder diesel engine. Fresh water heat exchanger cooling with wet exhaust, flexibly mounted beneath companionway steps. Reversing reduction gearbox with shaft driven 3 bladed fixed propeller. Single lever control and electric starting. Serviced annually by local engineers. Prop’ shaft, stern gland and cutlass bearing replaced 2011.
Fuel: 12 gallons in rotomoulded tank.
Freshwater: 35 gallon rotomoulded tank.
12 volt system - 2 x 12v batteries (1 x engine & 1 x domestic) charged by engine driven alternator. Isolation switches wired to distribution panel. 12v lighting throughout with additional chart light. Navigation lights including bow, stern, steaming, deck, tri colour and anchor.
240 volt system - shore power lead wired via an RCB with 20 amp marine battery charger, immersion heater in hot water tank and Euro sockets below.

Spars and rigging
Masthead sloop. By Sparcraft - Deck stepped silver anodised alloy mast, slab reefing boom with twin line reefing led to cockpit. Facnor roller furling headsail system, 1 x 19 s/steel wire standing rigging with twin backstays – replaced 2011.Sprung rod kicker. Terylene running rigging with all controls led back to Spinlock cockpit clutches.
Lewmar winches - 2 x 40 CST Genoa sheet, 1 x 16 CST and 1 x 32 CST halyard / reefing on coachroof. 2 winch handles.
Plastimo Olympic 135 binnacle type helmsman's compass.
Six / eight berths in three double cabins plus saloon. 1.85m headroom. Blue fabric upholstery. Ventilation mats beneath berth cushions. Curtains. JVC stereo radio cassette player with two speakers.Chrome clock & barometer.
Forecabin -V berth with infill, stowage below and hanging locker. Opening deck hatch.
Saloonwith settee berth to port and U shaped settee berth to stbd, central table. Opening hatch over.
Chart table to port at aft end of saloon with provision for instrumentation. Galleyto port with ENO s/s gimballed two burner gas cooker with oven and grill (gas system updated 2014) two s/steel sinks with h&c pressure water (hot provided by calorifier off engine or 240v mains), cool box with 12v fridge unit and stowage lockers.

Aft cabins to port and starboard each with a double berth and hanging locker
S/s pulpit, split sternguard with outboard stowage bracket, stanchions, guardwires (replaced 2011) and rear gate. Single alloy bow roller, draining anchor locker with manual anchor winch, Brittany type anchor and chain. Kedge anchor, chain & warp. Alloy toe rail. Bow and stern mooring cleats, plus moveable midships cleat.. Teak coachroof grabhandles. Burgundy folding sprayhood with s/s frame (clear screens replaced 2014). Draining aft cockpit with steering pedestal, fitted with folding cockpit table and drinks holder & 12v socket. Burgundy cockpit dodgers with name on. Deep cave locker to port with gaz locker aft. Removable stern seat giving access to stern bathing platform with cold water shower and folding boarding ladder. Winch handle pocket. Assorted mooring warps and 6 burgundy fenders.
Manual and electric bilge pumps. Fire blanket. Fire extinguishers – out of date. 2 x Horseshoe lifebuoys with lights.
The Oceanis 321 is an extremely spacious sailing yacht and easily handled by a small crew with all reefing controls led to the cockpit. The accommodation is light and airy with good headroom, three double cabins ex saloon, galley, excellent heads compartment and two more berths in the saloon if required.
“Canada Goose” was supplied new by us to her present owner and has been berthed locally cruising the East Coast and near continent. A comfortable cruising yacht with the larger engine option, hot water, fridge, updated rigging and sails plus a recent Copperbot treatment to the underwater surfaces.
