This boat is in stunning condition!
“Bombardino” is hull number 12 of the widely successful Santa Cruz 52 racer/cruiser. The SC 52 is a great cross-over boat that, unlike most racer/cruisers, actually excels at both. The boat is very comfortable for cruising, with plenty of ventilation and light. Berths and accommodations are very generous so that you feel like you are on a much larger boat. When you hit the race course, you have nothing to fear. The light displacement allows the boat to perform in the lightest of air, and also perform like a champion when the wind comes up and you are surfing downwind with the spinnaker! Anywhere you see a Santa Cruz 52 racing you see them at the front of the fleet.
Bob Perry (yacht designer and reviewer) quotes:
“We are talking horsepower, and whether we are talking the family yacht, minivan or ski boat, few of us are immune to its attraction. In a racing boat it means you have the power to execute your tactics rather than sit and wait. The SC 52 may be a boat that defies labels. Whatever you choose to call it, I'm sure it will be fast.”
She has been maintained by a captain since new, with nothing held back to keep the boat in great shape. Much of the maintenance on the boat is done pro-actively, like replacing the fuel tank and rudder bearings before the need arises. Bombardino is capable of winning any race or keeping you safe on a cruising passage. She is the perfect boat for the 2018 Newport to Bermuda Race!
Notable race finishes:
Around Block Island Race – 1st Overall
Newport to Bermuda Race – 1st in Class
Vineyard Race – 1st Overall
AYC Spring and Fall – 1st in Class many times
(Too many other race victories to mention)

MANUFACTURER PROVIDED DESCRIPTION:
The Santa Cruz 52 features both speed and luxury. Her well thought-out interior has two large private staterooms, each with double berths, and a separate stall shower in one of the two heads. The large salon provides dining for seven and includes two roomy pilot berths. There is ample storage throughout the cabins. The teak and holly cabin sole, solid teak trim, and white-accented paneling combine to produce a warm, yet light and airy environment. The wiring and plumbing systems are readily accessible, thoughtfully laid-out, and fully marked and identified. The Santa Cruz 52 is designed and engineered to be very strong, with specifications well in excess of ABS Standards. Advanced technology has enabled designers and builders to produce yachts which are both strong and light, so it is no longer necessary to equate strength with weight. Every piece of furniture, every panel and every cabinet is fully and carefully bonded to the hull and deck, providing an integrated hull support structure. The forward section of the hull includes a Kevlar collision mat and a watertight bulkhead. The IMS Stability Index of 121 degrees (Designers LPS 1119) indicates that this is a very stable and safe yacht. The large cockpit is secure, with substantial coamings, easy access through the companionway, and the ability to drain very rapidly through the open transom. The SC52 is organized so it can be sailed from the safety of the cockpit.
The Santa Cruz 52 has been designed to be fast, not according to some race handicap rule, but just plain fast! The SC52 has a powerful sail plan, but its light displacement results in lower loads. Lower loads, lighter sails and the SC52 deck layout mean high performance can be achieved by both short-handed cruisers and full racing crews. The SC52 moves well in light air, but if the wind dies, you will cruise at 9 knots with its 62 hp Yanmar diesel.
In addition to terrific cruising performance, the SC52 wins races, both first-to-finish and handicap (IMS, PHRF, or whatever is next), and has compiled an extremely successful race record. Most of these races have been won with a full cruising interior, demonstrating the SC52 may be the only true dual-purpose racer/cruiser available.
