KIA ORA III is hull #015 of the successful Swan 68 series, with an extended transom and stern boarding platform, well outfitted for world cruising. Like her sisterships, KIA ORA III is a high performance sailing yacht, but her Rondal hydraulic inmast furling, Reckmann furling headsail and hydraulic winches allow spirited sailing with little effort. She has a custom keel, with only (2.95m) 9.7 ft draft, (rather than the standard (3.55m) 11.6 ft. Her knowledgeable owner and conscientious crew have maintained her well in all respects.

KIA ORA III is an exceptionally well detailed yacht, fully prepared to cruise all oceans. Her knowledgeable owner and crew have considered all aspects, from safety and seamanship to comfortable living aboard in all conditions, then prepared the yacht accordingly. Her extensive inventory of spares is fully catalogued and stowed for easy access. Her china and glassware is stowed securely in backlit cabinets, dry goods below the centre-line seating and room for an extensive wine inventory below the salon seating. Her sail handling is simple, performance is spirited and she provides an extremely safe and comfortable platform for exploring the oceans of the world.
Hull and Deck
Solid fibreglass hull, reinforced with stringers to support high load areas, with an extended transom and folding hydraulic swim platform. Keel stepped mast on galvanized steel mast step with teak and holly cabin sole supported on hull stringers.
Topsides are red Awlgrip (2009).
Deck is GRP cored construction, engineered with variable density foam for high load areas.

Skeg hung rudder foam core fibreglass bonded to a SS rudder post and supported by upper and lower bearings. Cable steering via aluminium quadrant, stainless sheaves & cables.
KIA ORA III has two cockpits. The aft Helm Cockpit is the full command centre for the yacht, with controls for all systems, complete instrumentation and powerful hydraulic and manual winches all within easy reach. The ‘gull wing’ helm seat is comfortable on all angles of heel, with additional seating port and starboard for additional crew. Forward in the Helm cockpit, there is a companionway for easy access to the Owner’s stateroom and below deck areas.
The Guest Cockpit is amidships with comfortable cushioned seating for 68, centred around a varnished teak table. The cockpit is protected from the sun and elements by a full dodger and bimini.
Access to the water is via the custom hydraulic opening transom, complete with a teak boarding platform, steps to the stern deck and swim ladder.
KIA ORA III offers comfortable accommodations for six guests in four staterooms with en-suite heads, plus a separate crew cabin for two, also with an en-suite head. Her teak interior has been maintained in exceptional condition with new varnish in the salon and cabin sole 2011, and guest cabin 2016.
The full width Main Salon has a large varnished table to port with ‘U’ shaped dinette seating with new upholstery 2012. To starboard is a comfortable settee with entertainment center outboard. The Bar area has allocated bottle and glassware stowage with custom lighting, a 24v bar refrigerator and 220v icemaker.
The Navigation Station is aft to starboard, with a full office desk, storage and comprehensive navigation and communication equipment.
Continuing aft to starboard, the Crew Cabin is outboard, with single berths, drawer and locker storage, opening port and en-suite head with shower. Also, the Siemens’ washer and dryer are in a locker forward.
Fully aft and full width of the yacht, the Owner’s Stateroom is beautifully appointed with a centreline double berth and comfortable settees outboard port and starboard, with an abundance of stowage in drawers and lockers, all crafted in varnished teak. Slightly offset to starboard, the aft companionway leads to the helm cockpit. The Owner’s en-suite Head also has a separate stall shower.
Forward of the Salon are Two Guest Staterooms, each with lower and upper berths, ample stowage, en-suite heads and opening hatches for natural light and ventilation.
The forward stateroom has single "V" berths port and starboard, shelf, cabinet and locker stowage and an opening companionway to the foredeck. This stateroom shares the head with the starboard guest stateroom.
The ‘U’ shaped Galley is aft of the salon, to port of the main companionway and fully equipped for gourmet food preparation. The Corian Magna countertops provide plenty of space for food preparation, with cabinets on three sides providing an abundance of stowage for food and equipment. The Alpes Inox 4 burner propane stove and oven, with SS Alpes ventillated range hood are outboard to port, with the deep double sinks across. Immediately forward of the stove there are two, 220v electrical burners set into the counter. Large, front opening refrigerators are aft, with the freezer below the outboard counter.
