Pinball Wizard is a Farr 50, IMS based design built by Boat Speed in 1997. This yacht has a long history of successful campaigns; originally Raggamuffin in Australia, then Mascalzone Latino/Moby Lines in Italy, Uarshek in Annapolis & Newport and most recently Pinball Wizard in Chicago. Unlike most IMS boats of the time, Pinball Wizard is 100% carbon fiber composite. The long term benefit is a higher quality build that is ultimately more durable and more versatile. This is apparent in this boats life after IMS, as it has transitioned into PHRF, ORR and now IRC with continued success. Pinball Wizard has been updated and now incorporates redistributed ballast, having moved the internal ballast to a new keel bulb. The boat now offers increased stability and performance, especially in the higher wind ranges. Downwind Pinball Wizard now features masthead spinnakers, greatly improving off-wind speed and angle.
