The Catalina 42 was first introduced in 1988. In 1994 the Mark II was introduced. The most significant changes were the carrying of the beam further aft with a subsequent enlargement of the cockpit and a larger transom with softer lines. The rudder was also redesigned and features a larger elliptical shape for increased control.

"Sanctuary" has 3 cabins with a pullman berth forward. She has been lightly used with only 287 hours on the engine. Following are a few of her features and upgrades:
