Windsong - Is a high class yacht designed by Robert Harris and built by Northshore Yachts in Itchenor, West Sussex. She is an attractive deck saloon cruiser that offers the ability to enjoy proper sailing performance in comfort, without having to suffer the compromise of a motor sailer. She was built to an extremely high specification, with virtually every conceivable added extra. Sleeps 4 adults in 2 cabins, plus 2 adults in pilot house (starboard) plus 1 child in pilot house (port)
Forward cabin with V berth, providing two good length singles berths or a double berth by way of an infill. The infill stows between the berths to provide a seat when not in use. The forward cabin has a dressing table with a mirror and a hanging locker. There is an inspection hatch for the chain locker in the forward bulkhead. Good ventilation is provided by an opening deck hatch.
The heads compartment located to starboard, fitted with a Jabsco sea toilet in 2007, with a hinged down lid which convert that area to a bench seat. Teak grating over the shower tray provides good drainage. Wash hand basin with pressurised hot and cold water mixer tap, which doubles up as the shower head. Good built in stowage and shelving for toiletries.
The midships cabin provides a large double berth, hanging locker and vanity unit. There is additional storage available under the berth.
The linear galley is located to port opposite the midships cabin, with twin stainless steel sinks with hot and cold water mixer tap, a gimballed Plastimo 2000 two burner hob, with oven and grill. Built in stowage for crockery, cutlery, cooking utensils and provisions.12v 240v fridge with ice compartment is built in under the settee in the saloon and a large fridge unit is built in under the flooring.
The deck saloon has a settee to port the forward end of which is the seat for the interior helm position. To starboard there is large dinette arrangement. The table height can be adjusted, and can fold out to accommodate more diners. From the sitting position there is excellent visibility from the saloon through the large windows.
The forward facing navigation area located to starboard in the deck saloon. There is a large chart table with stowage for charts beneath with plenty of space for instruments.
The internal helm position is located to port, with instrument console, interior throttle control, autohelm joystick control and electrical panel.
The companionway steps are hinged for access to the the engine, to port there is an innovatively designed and large, wet locker.

The first owner, an airline pilot, had Windsong built in 1996 and kept her in top shape.
He sold her in 2001 to a retired gentleman I met in Poole in 2011. He updated all system to the best standards, and embarked on a refit in 2009. He kept a very detailed records of systems, maintenance and refit.
I’m the third and current owner. I took possession in August 2011. Windsong was in perfect shape. We had the engine serviced and all batteries changed, just to be on the safe side. When we left Poole we did not pay enough attention to weather reports, and had to sail through a gale in Biscay. After beating to windward for a day to gain some sea room, we hove-to for a day, and when then gale eventually subsided we sailed on to Cascais (Portugal). During the gale in Biscay I gained enormous respect for Windsong sailing abilities, and for her marine and build qualities. I had never previously been on a boat that felt so surefooted and at ease in a blow. In Finisterre the autopilot ceased to function, and we hand-steered day and night to Cascais. I was impressed by her sailing plan. She is beautifully balanced and can be held on course with two fingers and little effort. In Cascais I had a new autopilot installed by Raymarine Portugal. I then single-handed her from Cascais to the Algarve, where I spent a week hopping from marina to marina. At the end of August 2011 I winterized Windsong and laid her ashore in Faro. I also had an expensive custom cover made to protect her from the elements while ashore (see pics), which is of course included in the sale.
I went back to Faro in July 2012, and found Windsong in perfect shape. Half a turn and the engine roared to life. New oils, filters, water, fuel, food, and I sailed her to Rome, Italy, with stops in Gibraltar, Cartagena, Mallorca and Alghero. No problems whatsoever, what a beautiful boat, so easy to single-handle.
At the end of summer 2012 I winterized Windsong, and laid her ashore in Argentario (Cala Galera marina, 100 miles north of Rome). At the time I had the main sail re-cut for easier in-mast reefing (in a blow) while single-handing, and had all the sails taken down, serviced, and new sun-protective bands installed. The rigging (new in 2009) was also thoroughly inspected and calibrated, but found to be in perfect order.
In summer 2013 I had her briefly afloat for a couple of weeks in Cala Galera marina and enjoyed daily sails with my (then small) family. I winterized her again and she’s been on the hard ever since in Cala Galera.
If I were to sail her again I would do the following: antifouling and zincs/anodes and maybe change the batteries again (they were constantly charged, but had a long time ashore), engine service, winches/blocks and in-mast furling greasing. Other than that, I wouldn’t hesitate to sail her anywhere as is.
She’s ready for survey and sea trial.
