This Roger Simpson designed lightweight Catamaran was built (along with 3 others) in Trinidad by Don Stolmeyer – manager of “PowerBoats” the largest boatyard in Chaguaramas. A keen and experienced sailor, Don built Dream Lover for his own family use, and sold her to thecurrent owner in 2009 . One of the boat's three sisters circumnavigated the world in 2003. A fifth very similar boat (same hulls, different layout) has been built and is owned and cruised extensively by Chris Doyle, famous for his Caribbean Cruising Guides. This boat has rarely been used for more than week-end sailing (with the occasional 3 week cruise) and has always been well maintained. An extensive guide to her construction comes with the boat.

This Roger Simpson designed lightweight catamaran was deliberately built with a lightweight, simple layout and finish, with all systems accessible (for example - wiring is discrete, but you can get to it).
The current owner has made a number of significant improvements and additions:
LAYOUT / FEATURES
Cabins: 2 x large double cabins, each has full-size double beds, hanging lockers, individual wash-
basins, extensive storage; also – natural ventilation – a special design feature allows air to blow through the cabins, even in rain. Third double cabin in Aft Port Hull.
Saloon: Large – easily seats 8 around dining table. Large Nav/Work Station – specifically allows for computer use / phone charging etc. Nice HardwoodTrim, New Upholstery.
Galley: Simple Layout in Centre of Port Hull. Refrigerator & Cool Box System. 2 Burner Hob and Single Oven.
In May 2012 she had a rig failure 5 miles off Tobago in approx. 30knots wind. Loss of mast, Boom, Standing Rigging & Sails, with some cosmetic damage to decks. Cause unknown, but was either spreader or shroud failure. Rebuild afforded complete New Mast & Rig, plus opportunity to repaint hulls, top and saloon roof, some of the decks., new glazing. Work was done in Trinidad. There has been some dry osmosis bubbling above the waterline in the furthest forward section of the hulls (3 or 4 feet) , recently repaired. We think this is not of concern, and has only appeared where it was very difficult to access - the narrowest inside of the hulls - during the original construction.
Engine: Centre-Mounted engine, easily accessed and maintained. Diesel Nissan SD23 was deliberately chosen as parts and maintenance/mechanics are common worldwide., and all over the Carribean (same as most Maxi-Taxis)
Heads: One, with Adjacent Shower. It would be simple to fit a second head in one of the main cabins. External Shower on the starboard side scoop. Drop Down bathing ladder
Large Separate dedicated Cooler / Freezer - located in Saloon
Good Eco-Power: combination of Solars (4) and Wind Gen allow the boat to be function without running the engine.
Hot Water System: runs off engine / heat exchanger: very efficient (water remains hot for a long time).
Traveller is old and needs replacing
The Autohelm has a very unsatisfactory wheel-mount control. This needs replacing with a more reliable system, currently there is slippage.
Trampoline: Will need attention soon
