First of all, if you are looking for a real nice boat with lots of equipment, then this is your baby, if the design fits your needs. This boat is in outstanding condition and has features that you find on larger vessels. This is a water ballasted boat, so the boat is only 2,000 lbs on the trailer. Add the 1,000 lbs of water ballast and you have a boat with a 136 D/L according to the Hunter chief designer Rob Mazza, who once worked for C&C Yachts and Mark Ellis (Hinterhoeler). The tank is located on the centerline and is filled after you launch by removing a plug and then replacing it when the tank is full. The high aspect ratio centerboard relies on the ballast for lift and there is a custom shim system for a tight fit for the keel so it doesn’t bang around in the slot. When you haul the boat you simply remove the plug again and the water drains in two minutes. The rig is simple and stepped on deck and one person can raise and lower the spar. The SA/D is 18.15 when the tank is full. The lines are clean. Below there is the double forepeak, a short settee to port, long one to starboard and a huge double quarterberth aft. The galley has a sink and fresh water and a neatly stowed area for the ice chest under the port settee. This is a very versatile cruiser with lots of options. The owner moved to California and into a larger boat.
Hello, my name is Bill Hooper. I have been in the sailboat business for over 30 years and started in the service repair end and moved into sales. So, I have a good understanding of systems and how to evaluate most everything dealing with the vessel. In addition I have been sailing and racing boats for all those years and so understand the needs of various sailing venues from inland dinghies to offshore salt water passage making and most anything in between. I have a great knowledge base involving most anything with sailing and can help you sort out the differences and what is important in a boat used for different purposes and in different sailing areas.
