One of the earlier, purely-designed-by-Tim Jackett Tartans, the 3800 still displays a good hint of the elegance and grace of the older Tartans designed by Sparkman & Stephens.  "Classic in style and performance, the Tartan 3800 handles with exceptional ease."  This moderate displacement, fin-keel performance cruising sailboat is extremely well built, with a stiff, strong hull and rigging plan that will stand up to heavy winds and seas.  Interior workmanship is also exceptional, with plenty of warm teak appointments and cabinetry, teak and holly cabin sole, battened overhead panels, high quality cushion fabrics, and a tremendous array of opening ports, dorade ventilators and deck hatches.  KISMET is a very nice example of this model - she is nicely outfitted and has been well-maintained by her current owners over the last nine years.  She was acquired from the original owners in the Great Lakes, where she was stored out of the water for seven or eight months of every year.
