Upon entering Ocean Jasper's spacious interior, the immediate impression is of open, well ventilated, space with lots of natural light. Ventilation is outstanding, with 10 dorade vents and multiple deck hatches.
Ocean Jasper's interior living space is entirely seperated from the large machinery and mechanical systmes locker aft and the fore peak locker where sails and gear are stowed. This eliminates unpleaseant odors in the living spaces, that are seperated by watertight bulkheads. Forward, (aft of the forepeak) is a large owners stateroom with a queen berth, abundant amounts of personal storage space, and a private head with shower. Midship is the main salon with L shaped settee and varnished teak table to port and straight settee to starboard.
Aft of the salon is the galley to port, with the navigation station across from the galley. Continueing aft on the starboard side is the second head, shower and washing machine, and a guest cabin to port with upper and lower berths.
The premise behind the layout is that the large forward cabin is ideal in port, at anchor or for sailing downwind. Consistent with the design philosophy of comfortable cruising, there are two good sea berths located in the cabin aft, and two settees in the salon midships, all equipped with leeclothes. Also, the wide cockpit seats, sheltered by the fixed doghouse, make good sea berths and are handy in situations where the off watch crew can remain on immediate call.

The U shaped Galley with counters on three sides provides excellent storage and is ideal for liveaboard and offshore cruising with good support between the inboard and outboard counters. The counter tops are high, with deep fiddles and plenty of horizontal space to work on. The fridge and freezer boxes are accessed through the forward counter hatches. The fridge has an additional side-loading door. The double sinks are on the center line, providing drainage on either tack. Excellent storage outboard and below counters and tall locker.
Seafrost 2009 11.6 cu. ft. refrigerator and 8.7 cu. ft. freezer, 12 volts, air cooled and water cooled with restackable shelving. Vacuum sealed, providing better insulation and larger capacity. ( This was one of many costly upgrades).

One of the many standout features of the Sundeer 60 is the exceptional space for machinery and systems located under the starboard cockpit locker and full beam stern lazarette. All this space is contiguous and allows for excellent access to service the main engine, generator and multiple systems. Access is through a very large starboard cockpit locker hatch, which is over a work bench with vice, and two aft deck hatches. Repairs and service can take place without disturbing any interior living space.

There are side, front and roof windows, forward windows and roof hatches. At sea or in port this provides a protected area to lounge or to operate Ocean Jasper under power or sail. The design development of large performance cruising sailing yachts that can be sailed shorthanded continues to grow. The Sundeer 60, Ocean Jasper, is one of the best examples. Few contemporary designs can compare to her fast passage making capability with long waterline, moderate displacement and very manageable sail plan.
Ocean Jasper was designed by Steve Dashew and built by Tillotson Pearson, one of America's most experienced yacht builders using the latest SCRIMP technology to mold the hull. The interior is laid out to cross oceans rapidly in comfort and safety. Ocean Jasper is exceptionally well equipped for circumnavigation and offers one of the most attractive interior styles with extra woodwork.
From behind the wheel Ocean Jasper gives the impression of an easily managed 50 footer. Only when moving forward of the cockpit pilothouse across the long flush deck is the full size appreciated.
The working job is easy to tack and furl, and the loads involved in raising, trimming and reefing sails are quite moderate with the convenience of having 3 electric winches when sailing in higher winds.
The helm is light and precise with the long shoal fin keel and spade rudder, she responds and tracks very well.
Truly a boat to go sailing in!!!
