Yacht Designer Angelo Lavranos, in Cape Town South Africa, has incorporated into this sturdy ocean passagemaker, both seaworthiness and ample interior space that offers steady and comfortable cruising.
Below the water line, the hull shows a fine entry with a long cutaway forefoot followed by an efficient and modern keel section and a deep profile skeg hung rudder. This proven design combination readily separates a true bluewater passagemaker from other traditional yachts and offers ease of handling and lively performance.
“INFINITY” was built and launched in 1993 finished and commissioned in 1995 and after a major Atlantic crossing from South Africa to Trinidad and the Caribbean, she has spent the rest of her life in the Caribbean and now Panama.
“INFINITY” is a perfect example of a classic offshore design and is one of the warmest, roomiest, most comfortable interiors available in a 40’ cruising yacht. Incorporating a sugar scoop stern, aluminum slotted toe rail, dorades, opening ports, oversize rigging, pass through European style bow pulpit and quality construction, “INFINITY” is a modern classic.
IN THE OWNERS WORDS:
“INFINITY is a Crossbow 40 designed by Angelo Lavranos and built by Aarnold Pope in Cape Town. She is a cutter rigged sloop designed for safe and comfortable blue water cruising. She was finished in 1996. The first owner spared no expense in comprehensively fitting her out with the highest quality equipment, in order to take his family world cruising.
After sea trials they crossed the Atlantic in 1996 reaching Trinidad. Circumstances forced them to give up their dream of cruising and they sold Infinity to the 2nd owner in Jan 1998. The 2nd owner spent 2 months in Trinidad refurbishing and getting the vessel ship shape for continued cruising. They thereafter spent a few months sailing the Caribbean before being forced by medical conditions to sell INFINITY to the present owners in Nov 1998. The present owners have spent the past 12 years cruising the Caribbean on INFINITY and have maintained her in first class condition, throughout that period. INFINITY has only been sailed by the three owners and has never been chartered in any way.
Having been our home for the past 12 years which have been arguably the happiest of our lives, It is with a sad heart that we offer this wonderful vessel for sale, but the years are passing and we feel the time has come for us to reluctantly seek a more sedentary life ashore.
Viewed from the outside, “INFINITY” looks like a beautiful, moderately sized world cruising vessel. On entering below, all visitors are taken aback at her size and available living space. She has the interior of a 45’ yacht. “INFINITY” is a beautifully finished vessel with fine carpentry, that adds to the ambiance of her spacious interior. For a medium sized cruising vessel, she has an exceptional amount of space below”.

ACCOMMODATIONS & LAYOUT
Headroom is 6’4” or better, throughout the boat and storage capacity can only be noted as “incredible”. Beautiful wood joinery throughout, incorporating the beauty of Cherry, Maple, teak and solid teak staving , all doors are beveled and hand fitted, and the glossy varnished cabin sole is teak and holly plank. The interior is finished with a satin varnish with high gloss accents on the trim.
“INFINITY” sleeps up to eight people in accommodations with the forward cabin, main salon settees, third quarter cabin aft of the Nav Station (which sports over/under berths) and the owners port berth cabin.
Most forward is a large V-berth, with filler cushion to make a comfortable double berth, most inviting with BEAUTIFUL staving in maple and cherry and trimmed in teak. This cabin is just gorgeous and there are numerous over bunk lockers, surrounding the forecabin, extensive storage unusual in a V-berth. Forward of the bunk is the anchor locker and under to port, is the sail storage area.
Opposite and on the port side is the forward head, with Jabsco marine toilet, vanity and large mirror and four separate storage compartments. The vanity sink faucet is also the hand-held showerhead, for the “ensuite” shower.
Aft of the v-berth area and on the starboard side, there is a large hanging locker and a cabinet with shelf top storage.
Amidships is the main salon which features a large folding center table with beautiful inlaid chessboard and two top loading built-in storage cabinets. There are two straight settees, covered in a light, washable decorator fabric with arm cushions and decorator pillows to match. On the port side, there is an athwart ship “jump seat” for additional supplemental guest seating.
Above the port settee there are storage lockers and outboard is good sized book storage and further storage under. The starboard settee has storage under, large storage areas outboard and behind and a music system with surround sound, TV and DVD player. Custom curtains can be found throughout the yacht.
Further aft to port, you will enjoy the classic “walk through” designed “L” shaped galley that will delight the gourmet, whether at sea or dockside and for a vessel of this size, the galley is very large and wonderfully functional. Most forward is a large work surface that faces the salon with a large, top-opening storage compartment below it. There is generous cabinet & counter space, both inboard, and outboard numerous drawers, deep double sinks with hot and cold pressure water, a freshwater Wale handpump, a wall freezer as well as an undercounter fridge and freezer and built-in combination convection/microwave oven. Also, there is a 3 burner, gimbaled stainless steel propane, Force 10 stove with oven and broiler.
The countertops and door fronts are white with varnished teak trim and varnished teak fiddles and there are two opening ports over the stove area outboard, and two additional ports that face the cockpit, an excellent way to pass food and small drinks to the crew and also for added ventilation.
Walking aft of the galley, through the “walk-through” is the master stateroom. The unique aft cabin design is a signature of the Lavranose Crossbow and incorporates a queen berth, offset to port with storage on the port side and three large cabinets below the berth.
There is a large cupboard/locker with shelf storage on the port side forward of the berth on the forward bulkhead and a cushioned dressing seat with storage under, just forward of the berth and a small table/desk with lift up lid and storage under. Outboard are two large bookshelves. The master suite has abundant light, ventilation and storage.
Forward on the starboard side is the owners ensuite head with BATHTUB and vanity, large mirror and plentiful cabinet storage.
Throughout this vessel, there is extensive storage in the form of shelves, hanging lockers, drawers and cabinets. She features private accommodations for two couples in separate cabins, a third quarterberth cabin, 2-heads, plus settee berths, port and starboard, for additional guests and family.
The interior throughout is beautiful cherry, maple and teak woods, with the cabin soles being beautifully made of teak and holly. Large overhead hatches and plentiful side ports provide good natural light as well as excellent ventilation. The feeling is one of elegance and comfort.
Directly across from the galley, to starboard, and at the foot of the companionway is a proper offshore, forward facing navigation station and chart table with tremendous room for an exceptional compliment of navigation and electronic equipment for easy use while navigating.
The large nav table/desk has a generous storage locker under the desk top and room for the additional electronic navigation and communication equipment outboard. The nav seat is nicely cushioned for comfort and the electrical panel is flush mounted here, on a swing-out door for easy access. Overhead is an additional opening port for excellent cross ventilation with the galley and Nav area.
This broker HIGHLY SUGGESTS, that any interested buyer, carefully inspect the photos of the nav station, remembering, A PHOTO SPEAKS A THOUSAND WORDS!!!!
Aft of the nav station is a third cabin with good sized quarter bottom berth, and single berth over with plenty of storage, and a large cupboard athwartship. This is an EXCELLENT offshore berth for the Navigator or working crew members.
There are 10 ports and 6 opening deck hatches, plus the companionway hatch, with screens, which provides a tremendous amount of light and superior cross ventilation. There are also 2 dorade vents. Below deck ventilation far surpasses the standards in the industry.
