Stella Maris of St Ives is a truly loved family yacht. She has been constantly upgraded, serviced, sailed and enjoyed by her current owners. Additions in recent years include a new Generator, new RIB, new Genoa, and new extra chart plotter in the cockpit. The 485 is a fantastic boat to sail, totally capable of being sailed short handed and rewards with fantastic performance and a wonderful feeling of security and comfort! The owners are putting her on the market in order to buy a bigger Oyster. Viewing recommended for this well priced yacht.
Stella Maris was our introduction to the Oyster family. We bought her when we decided to spend a lot more time sailing and wanted to have fun, while being safe, comfortable and independent from relying on marinas. She handles beautifully and easily when sailed by a couple or even on solo watches while no comfort is spared.
The central cockpit design allows us to have the most spacious and luxurious master cabin you will find in a 15-meter yacht, while also being very stable to sleep in on a passage. The guest cabins also allow for privacy for everyone, as they are both up forward on the far side of the saloon.
We feel that the deck saloon is unsurpassed for allowing light and air to flood directly into the saloon area through large opening windows that have been proven to be strong and safe over Oyster’s long experience of this design feature. The light, airy feeling below, care of the saloon deck, makes us very happy to spend extended periods of time on-board, with no signs of cabin fever.
Stella Maris has been a cracker to sail all around the Med over many summers and doubles as a fabulous bathing platform when at anchor, while the well appointed galley allows us to produce gourmet meals served with the best view in our own private island resort.
We often find ourselves out sailing when most others have stayed home because there’s a stiff wind blowing or it’s a bit lumpy or cold out, but Stella Maris always rises to the challenge. She loves to cut through 20-25 knots of wind in a steady groove, and when it gets too chilly, you can go below and watch through the saloon deck windows with the Webasto on to keep you toasty. The leather seats are very hardwearing and look better with age, even if you sit on them while wearing foul weather gear.
So we have found Stella Maris a wonderful Oyster, to go anywhere and to be sailed and enjoyed in all seasons.
