The first new build St Ives lugger to have been built in over 60 years, this replica of the Godrevy has worked as a charter vessel her entire life doing fishing trips out of St Ives. Built as a traditional flush decked working boat she had a wheelhouse added in present ownership for protection from the elements. 2 mast dipping lug rig, 85hp Ford diesel with 4 berth accommodation below decks. Built as a replica of the Godrevy, a well known St Ives fishing lugger. This boat was the first newly built fishing lugger from this area in nearly 60 years when she was constructed in 1993. Sailed for many years by the first owner and builder Norman Leity, and later his son, used as a charter boat on fishing trips and cross channel passages. Originally built as a flush decked replica, she later had the wheelhouse added to provide shelter on windy days at sea.
The boat has been licensed under the MCA code of practice since she was first built and as such has been surveyed every year since, having to stick rigidly to the rules of the code.
Still in code, this is a very nice looking vessel that was only built just over 20 years ago meaning she is not suffering from the problems common in the older working vessels.
Length on deck 35’
Planked in 1 ¼” larch fastened to alternate steamed and sawn oak timbers. Iron nail fastened into the large sawn frames and copper riveted on the intermediated steamed timbers. Grown oak floors across the centreline.
Oak backbone with an external iron ballast keel through fastened with iron keel bolts.
Straight laid solid Douglas Fir deck screw fastened to the deck beams. Caulked in the traditional way and seams payed with Butyl rubber.
Small bulwark all round on stanchions through the coverboard. Galvanised guard rails above the capping rail to comply with MCA coding requirements.
Wheelhouse fitted in present ownership with full standing headroom. The boat has been used for charter fishing and as such the wheelhouse became a necessity to provide shelter from the elements. Access on the starboard side, wheel steering with engine controls.
Access below through a hatch at the forward end of the wheelhouse.
Small coachroof extending from the forward end of the wheelhouse gives adequate headroom below decks. Painted wood with bronze portholes and a sheathed plywood coachroof deck.
2 masted lug rig on solid keel stepped masts.
A choice of sails, all dating from 1993.

Hydraulic Borg Warner gearbox with single lever Morse control to a stainless steel shaft to a port offset bronze propeller.
