The J/130 made a big splash when she was first introduced to the sailing world in 1993. Winning Sailing and Cuising World magazines coveted 'Boat of the Year' award by unanimously beating out 11 other contenders, it was apparent that this was no ordinary racer/cruiser. Her "Ease of handling" was a common theme noted throughout the judging.
