The Valiant 42 Raised Salon is and amazing vessel. The owners of Topaz, #101, had her built in 1992 by the Valiant Yachts Company in Texas. They wanted to live aboard and sail far to explore the world in their retirement. The idea of living "down below" did not appeal to them and they explored the possibilities of building a raised salon Valiant. Topaz was the first Valiant 42, and she was the first raised salon design. She was in the Miami Boat Show in 1992. In May, Topaz joined the Jimmy Cornell rally to the Azores and to Spain and won 2nd place in her class! After visiting the Med, she raced back in November of 1992 with the Jimmy Cornell America 500 rally retracing the route of Christopher Columbus. Topaz placed 1st in her class! In 1995, Topaz began her circumnavigation and world voyage. She returned to Virginia in May of 2007 to get a brand new Yanmar and cruised the Bahamas in 2009.

The owners of Topaz have enjoyed her and cared for her and she has enabled them to realize their sailing dreams of seeing the world from their boat. They had many adventures along the way and their boat took good care of them.

The VALIANT 42RS is the newest addition to the World's Finest Family of Offshore Cruising Yachts. Unique in both concept and dimension, the VALIANT 42RS is a result of the marriage of the offshore proven VALIANT 40, with a Raised Salon deckhouse, unprecedented in a sailing yacht of this class.

Valiant's new custom fabricated mast rig with anchor/bowsprit provide a maximum sail area and excellent helm balance. All Valiant spars are through-deck stepped to insure maximum strength. These combinations give each Valiant plenty of sail power while keeping things simple enough for a couple to manage and maintain, even under strenuous conditions. And a full complement of oversize selftailing offshore winches make it possible for even the smallest member of the crew to trim sails.

The Valiant 42RS incorporates the same proven offshore hull form with a structural skeg mounted rudder and a state of the art keelfoil. This powerful combination insures excellent control and tracking on and off the wind. And the external, bolted on lead ballast provides excellent defense against accidental grounding, while it also allows for a low stabilizing center of gravity which optimizes performance and safety.

This Valiant 42 Raised Salon is a nice liveaboard home for a cruising couple. If you want to see the world from your boat, she can go around again steered by her Monitor windvane steering system. Topaz is a one stateroom boat with plenty of storage. The Raised Salon gives you windows on the world! The new Yanmar engine is installed low in the center of the boat with a straight shaft and no V-drive. The dodger and bimini make the deep safe cockpit like a wonderful patio.
