JUST REDUCED -  ‘Willow’ is a ‘one-of-a-kind’, custom built traditional gaff rigged yawl, with her lines, rigging and sail plan taken from the famous ‘Spray of Boston’ – the first boat to be ‘Sailing Alone around the World’ with Captain Joshua Slocum, 1895 – 1898. Willow combines traditional building techniques with modern composite technology, retaining her old-world charm as well as having all the space and home comforts you would expect from a modern world cruising yacht. This yacht is beautifully finished with a very spacious interior for a yacht of its size.

Willow was built and subsequently launched in 1990 on Hamilton Island in Queensland by Danish carpenter/shipwright, Kim Pilegaard Jensen. Kim emigrated from Denmark in 1986 and finally settled on Hamilton Island in 1987 working as a shipwright at Hamilton Island Charters who operated one of the largest charter fleets in the Whitsundays at that time. Willow was, and still is the only yacht to ever have been built and launched on Hamilton Island. Over the course of her time on the water with her first owner Willow was cruised both up and down the Queensland coast (Brisbane to Cooktown) and then the islands in the Pacific (New Caledonia to Papua New Guinea).

On returning to Hamilton Island, Willow was purchased by her current owners and sailed to Hong Kong via Papua New Guinea, Yap and the Philippines. On arrival she underwent an 18 month project to upgrade and add to the safety features and comforts already aboard, in preparation for extensive tropical cruising. Between 2006 and 2009, Willow was extensively cruised throughout Thailand, the Philippines and the northern coast of Borneo, across to Singapore and through the Malacca Straits. In 2009, Willow returned to Hong Kong where she is sailed regularly at weekends and continually maintained and upgraded and updated by her professional and meticulous owners.
