Finished by the craftsman at Able Marine Alchemist has a wonderful layout well suited for getting out of the weather and as a liveaboard with a raised salon/ pilot house. Her layout consists of two enclosable state rooms, two heads (1 separate shower) sleeping up to 7 people. Head room is 6’ 2”. She has a Herreshoff style interior, with white panels and cherry trim and ceilings. Unlike what you see on newer builds these days, the floors are solid teak and holly (not ply). This is a true pilot house with below deck steering and helm. The raised salon windows give an excellent view in the up dining area. Her New England craftsmanship and quality are in evidence throughout.
There are two companionways, one into the main raised salon and another into the aft cabin. The primary entrance is through the aft cabin, with the salon companionway an option when the aft cabin is in use. Entry into the raised salon is through the companionway offset to starboard. The raised C-shaped dinette is offset to port. The beautiful cheery wood table with inlay has a drop leaf and easily seats 6. The cushions are finished in forest green ultra suede.
The Navigators Table and below deck steering station are located on the starboard side of the salon. The Nav seat faces aft and easily raises and rotates to become a below deck helm seat. The AC and DC power panels, battery switches, battery monitors and below deck ignition are located here. Below deck steering is via a Joy stick and a Robertson Autopilot. Morse engine controls give you the convenience of operating the engine both above and below.
Two steps down and aft of the salon is the Aft Cabin. This master suite has a queen size berth offset to port. There is an ensuite head to starboard. This is a large cabin with abundant storage found in two large hanging lockers, and multiple drawers and cabinets. The Aft companionway give access to the cockpit.
Moving forward of the Main salon and two steps down to port is the large Galley. This galley is the gourmet cooks dream, with a tremendous abundance of storage space, huge top loading refrigerator and freezer, dual (house size) stainless sink , Force 10 three burner stove and a Panasonic microwave. Unlike most boats there is definitely room for more than one cook in this space!
Across from the galley on the starboard side is a long settee and sea berth. The back of this settee lifts to make a bunk bed arrangement, revealing more storage and bunk space behind. A book shelf just above this settee runs the length of the seat.
Moving forward of the galley to port is the forward head. This is a good sized head with a separate shower stall.
The forward cabin is a v-berth with an in fill and is certainly large enough to satisfy any guest’s needs. This cabins sports a large hanging locker, four large drawers and book shelves running the length of the cabin
“Alchemist” is a special boat both above and below decks. She has just the right amount of wood below to give her warmth. The raised pilot house’s large windows, combined with the white paneling, give the interior and open and bright feel. The teak and holly floors were recently refinished and Alchemist interior shows extremely well.
