Seaworthiness, safety and performance are the three keywords at designing and building catamarans for Atelier Outremer in Grande Motte (FR). Over two decades they are building Outremer catamarans and many of these catamarans crossed oceans and circumnavigated the world. Due to her daggerboards the Outremer50 STD performs excellent claused-hauled and easily reaches 9 knots. Broad reach speeds up to 15 knots are customary. The low resistance hulls ads to the boats safety and comfort. At these impressive speeds, even in light breezes it is easy to avoid bad weather. The large cockpit with teak floor is largely covered by a bimini. Be it rain or tropical sunshine; you always find good shelter. Central is a U-shaped bench with plenty of storage facilities. At both sides of the superstructure are helm positions. The sheets and trimlines are led here so that the boat is easy to handle from the steering position. The mainsails traveler is mounted at the rear beam, as well as the davits for the dinghy. The two engines are easily accessible through hatches in the sterns. All decks are non skid painted. The anchor winch is placed in a hatch before the mast. The liferaft is found at the starboard beam above the net between the hulls. From a midships gangway it is possible to set a bowsprit on which the reacher flies. The cabin has large sliding doors. In the middle is a large table with benches all around. At portside of the cabin is the galley. It has a double sink, a four burner stove, oven, cooling box and freezer. At starbordside is the navigation corner with all the necessary equipement. Both hulls can be reached through a stairway. The starboard hull has two double and one single cabin. Between them are two wet cells. The port hull also has two double cabins with a wet cell between them. The single bowcabin now is in use as a workroom. All cabins have more than enough storage facilities and hanging lockers. De outremer 50STD has an impressive image. The excellent performance and the light spacious interior guarantee a pleasant stay on board. For blue water cruising this is the ideal boat. The boat has been very well kept. Recently she has had many refits and is now ready for yet another voyage. We gladly invite you to step on board and see her for yourself in the Netherlands.
