MALIZIA was Prince Rainier III of Monaco's final yacht. She was named after one of his ancestors who according to the story told by Rainier himself, dressed up as a Monk and asked for safe refuge in the Castle which was occupied at the time by enemy forces. Those were the days when the Guelphs and Ghibellines were at war with one another. Once inside, the fake Monks whipped out their swords and after a short battle, took back control of the Rock. Even today the Grimaldi family crest features two sword-weilding monks. Their leader Francesco Grimaldi went by the nickname Malizia. Today "MALIZIA" retains her place as one of the first ever Perini Navi Yachts, from one of the most successful sailing yacht shipyards in the world.
