ELLÖS STAR is a charming motor sailor and a departure from the range of other HR yachts. The Hallberg-Rassy 94 Kutter hull reminds of the beautiful lines of a traditional Swedish fishing boat. She has a fuller hull than other HR designs and a canoe stern with a long keel.

FORWARD CABIN: Traditional twin V berth 2m long with an infill to form a generous double berth, ample stowage on shelving and in lockers below berths. The inside of the hull is lined with mahogany slats. Opening skylight and reading lights. Folding door to passageway gives access to wardrobe on starboard side and the separate heads/shower compartment to port.
HEADS/SHOWER COMPARTMENT: Marine WC, large porcelain washbasin with shower attachment and drained shower tray, ample locker space and mirror. Opening portlight.
MAIN SALOON: L-shaped sofa/berth to port with lift up backrest to increase sleeping space, lockers and bookshelf above; backrest can be utilised as 'occasional' cot berth. Straight sofa/berth to starboard with similar backrest and locker arrangement. Internal hull of both berths mahogany lined, berths are fitted with lee cloths and reading lights. Substantial saloon table with drop leaves and centre bottle stowage. Ships clock and barometer mounted on forward bulkhead. Opening skylight above table.
GALLEY: Aft of half bulkhead to starboard, with gimballed Plastimo 2-burner gas cooker, grill and oven all fitted with flame failure device (new 2007). Double stainless steel sink unit with pressurised hot and cold water, reserve foot pump. Refrigerated 70 litre cool box and ice compartment. Stowage for cooking utensils, crockery, tinned foods, etc.
CHART TABLE: Aft of half bulkhead and to port comprising chart table with lifting top for chart stowage. Sliding doors conceal Standard Horizon DSC VHF radio and ICS Navtex. Mounted on aft bulkhead are the following: connection for Yeoman chart plotter, Radar/GPS selector switch, AP Phillips GPS unit, NASA SSB radio receiver with PC connection, Seafarer echo sounder, Stowe analogue log. Instrument and switch panel for nav lights, engine hours meter, fuel tank gauge, voltmeter and energy monitor, battery selection and isolation switches. Further stowage is provided in four drawers and a locker beneath chart table. A CO2 fire extinguisher, ducted into the engine compartment, is located in a locker to the side of the chart table.
Companionway steps lift to provide access to engine compartment. The yacht also has a 230v shore power facility consisting of a connection lead, including meter, distribution and circuit breaker box, battery charger and several 13A outlets.
At the helm position there is a chart table and instrument console comprising Raymarine ST60 wind speed and direction, depth sounder and log (all new 2012), Raytheon ST50 electronic compass, magnetic steering compass, Autohelm 5000 control panel, Raytheon CRT radar display, plug in connection for Yeoman plotter. Engine instrument panel and controls; window wipers are also controlled from this position.
Lighting is also provided at the chart table and at deckhead. The front window and skylight in the roof can be opened.
COCKPIT: The cockpit sole lifts up to provide access to engine compartment. Three large teak seated lockers give access to ancillary equipment, 4 man liferaft in valise, warps and fenders. The starboard cockpit locker houses the hot water calorifier, fresh water pump and accumulator tank, refrigeration compressor and engine start battery. The cockpit table is also stowed here. In the portside cockpit locker is the battery charger, two domestic batteries, Eberspacher diesel fired warm air heater (serviced 2014) and back of panel electrical terminations. In the stern locker is the Autohelm linear drive, rudder quadrant and the telescopic yacht legs. There is a removable cockpit canopy with rear window and side flaps which provides excellent weather protection and visibility.

ELLÖS STAR was purchased by her current owner in 1999. Below the waterline the hull was epoxy treated and coated with 'Coppercoat' in 2008 by the Hayling Yacht Co Ltd. A hull survey was carried out by an independent surveyor at this time. Raymarine ST60 wind speed and direction, depth sounder and log were installed in 2012. Cutlass shaft bearing, stern tube and Volvo seal were renewed in January 2014. The propeller was replaced in March 2014. The mast was serviced in September 2014, standing rigging renewed, also tri-white masthead light, main/genoa halyards and spinnaker halyard renewed. ELLÖS STAR is a Part 1 British Registered Yacht.
