Cambria Cambria 44

VOLUNTEER is a classic Cambria 44 in excellent condition.  The current and original owners have continually upgraded equipment and added new systems including a bow thruster and watermaker.   The Cambria 44 was featured in Ferenc Maté's The World's Best Sailboats which also included Hinckley, Nautor Swan and Little Harbor.  She is ready to cruise with a long list of options including generator and central reverse cycle air conditioning and heat. Highlights of additional upgrades are Leisure Furl in-boom furling, new sails, autopilot and chart plotter. 

VOLUNTEER's eye catching, graceful profile is a standout wherever she cruises.  She was designed and built at David Walters' semi-custom yard in Portsmouth, Rhode Island with an exquisite varnished teak interior.  Her performance cruising hull shape is fast and sea kindly.  The 6' lead keel has a centerboard to enhance upwind performance.  Two companionways provide entry below, one to the aft cabin from the cockpit and a second to the salon from the midship cockpit well.  There is a galley passageway from the aft cabin to the salon and forward guest cabins.   

In "The World's Best Sailboats, A Survey", Ferenc Maté stated that "you will be delivered a yacht of excellent design and engineering, not inexpensive but then the Cambria quality is among the world's best".  VOLUNTEER, in her first 12 years participated in the Newport to Bermuda race, Halifax and the New England racing circuits.  Since 2000 she has been used for summer cruising in New England and some trips to the Caribbean.  To build a new Cambria 44 comparably equipped to VOLUNTEER today at a quality US yard would cost considerably over $1,000,000.
