Crew quarters are port and starboard in the bows, just aft of storage lockers. Each has upper/lower berths, head and shower with opening ports and hatch for ventilation.
On the main salon level are two equal staterooms with ensuite heads and showers, massive storage areas for clothes and sundrys. Both have flat screen tv's,
On the port side down there are two staterooms with queen berths, also with excellent storage and ensuite facilities. The starboard hull down contains the 5th stateroom, this one with twin berths that can be pushed together to form a queen. Aft of this stateroom is the galley.
Both the salon and cockpit are huge, providing ample room for entertaining or simply relaxing.The living areas are service by two CruisAir reverse cycle air conditioning units. Hot water is provided by 3 "on demand" electric water heaters. The salon has a large L-shaped couch,breakfast nook, shelves with storage under port and starboard. There is a LG big screen TV in the salon and two flat screen TV's in the salon level staterooms. Also on board are DVD player,stereo and amplifier.
Lighting is provided by 12V overhead lights. Companionways lead down to the galley (starboard aft), stateroom, (port aft),and to 2 staterooms starboard. All staterooms are equipped with fans, 12V lighting, heads and showers, opening ports and hatches providing excellent ventilation. Accommodations for up to 4 crew are located in cabins in the port and starboard bows. They have upper/lower berths, ensuite facilities and opening hatches and ports for ventilation, adequate storage for personal gear.
The galley is located aft in the starboard hull. It has an overhead hatch and an escape hatch inboard. Equipment consist of Whirlpool SS propane stove with 6 burners, griddle, oven and broiler, Ariston hot water heater, SS sink, SS countertops, microwave, Whirlpool SS refrigerator/freezer with ice maker and ice and water dispensers.
There is a hard bimini covering the cockpit with canvas side and aft curtains. The deck is unfinished teak, there are 6 louvered storage lockers aft as well as additional storage under settees port and starboard. Three teak tables with substantial stainless steel bases provide seating for up to 14 guest with seating provided by directors chairs and the settees. There are two overhead cockpit speakers. Navigation instruments including chart plotter are located on a counter top (with storage below) on the forward port bulkhead. Washer and dryer are located under counter tops, starboard and port respectively. Port and starboard ladders give access to the deck. There are fishing rod holders overhead port and starboard.
There are seats port and starboard, on bow and stern, SS with teak seats. Dinghy davits equipped with hydraulic Harkin winches, are aft of the cockpit. Floodlights are mounted port and starboard lighting the davits. Stainless steel charcoal BBQ is mounted on the starboard aft rail. SS poles are port and starboard aft, one for a wind generator (since removed) the other holds the radar and antenna. There are three mounts for life rafts, two between the hulls aft, the other on deck. Approximately 30 opening hatches plus numerous opening ports. The helm, with full electronics and engine instruments, is located midships above and forward of the cockpit.
Electrical & Mechanical
There are 2 Izuzu generators, approximately 3,000 hours each, mounted in lockers forward of the deckhouse. Port genset is 12kva, starboard 16kva, generating 120/220V power. The house system is 12V/24V, serviced by 8 4D gelcell batteries. Each engine and generator have individual start batteries. There is a 10kw shore power transformer, shore power cord(s), 30amp circuit breaker and selector switch for 110V and 220V. The Trace Model U26245B inverter is located next to the house batteries in the salon, with 2 x Mastervolt Battery Chargers.
Electronics and Navigation
(2) Furuno NavNet CMapNT color plotters, both interfaced with the radar, one at cockpit nav station, the other at the helm. SimradAP20 autopilot, (3) Raytheon ST 60 wind point/speed instruments, helm, salon and cockpit. Furuno 30 mile radar, ACR Class #1 EPIRB, Inmarsat (not working), Standard Horizon Spectrum VHF with remote mike at helm. Furuno "Navigator" GPS in salon.
Engine access is through deck hatches port and starboard in the cockpit. Each engine has a seperate starting battery, two Racor filters and water seperators. There are 2 electric (24V) and 1 manual bilge pump in each engine compartment. In addition to the fuel tanks there are day tanks for both engines as well as one shared by the generators. The engine day tanks havea capacity of approximitly 17 gallons. Fuel to the day tanks is supplied by an automatic transfer pump system.
Sails and Rigging
The carbon fiber mast is by Natespace Components, stepped on deck. Shrouds are 5/8" and 7/8" 1 x 19 SS. Staysail and genoa have roller furling by Reckman. All lines are led aft through sheet stoppers (Harkin or Spinlock) to hydraulic winches, slab reefing. Fully battened main with lazy jacks. Sails are in good to very good condition, but the Sunbrella on both the genoa and staysail need to be replaced. Equipped with spinnaker and pole. There are 9 Harkin ST hydraulic winches, plus 2 Harkin halyard tensioners on the mast. The Harken mainsheet traveler is located aft of the cockpit, lines are lead forward to hydraulic winches near the steering station.
Anchor & Safety
Lofrans Titan, #23342 electric windlass, 2.68hp, with 2 horizontal windlasses and wildcats. She is fitted with a 140 pound CQR on the port side, a 130 pound Brittany to starboard. Both have approximately300' of 1/2" chain. There is a spare anchor, Danforth type, of about 130 pounds. Numerous lifejackets, 8 person canister liferaft (out of service); flares; Class #1 EPIRB. Mooring cleats forward, aft and midships. Electric and manual bilge pumps in engine rooms and crew quarters as well as midship under staterooms.
The 15' fiberglass dinghy is equipped with a 30hp Suzuki outboard; misc snorkeling gear; 3 surfboards; SS swim ladder; fishing rods and reels; 4 SS rod holders mounted on stern railings; oversize fenders; mooring lines; anchor/mooring bridle; cockpit and deck cushions; misc tools and spare parts, fully equipped with bedding and galley gear.
Built by AluMarine in France, "Marlin del Rey" underwent a complete refit in 1996. She was stripped to the bare hull and a new interior was installed after the original bow sections were removed and new, extended bows added which, in addition to providing additional storage space contributed to an even smoother ride.
Constructed of 5083 electrically welded marine alloy aluminum with decks of 4.5mm thickness and hull of 5.5mm. She features a longitudinal framing system, contributing to her fair hull.
