Good As Gold is a 43' center cockpit sailing yacht, production built of molded GRP in 1989 at Robertson & Caine Yachts (S. Africa) and currently rigged as a masthead sloop with a four (4) cylinder diesel engine as auxiliary. The hull has a raked bow, round bilges, long fin keel, skeg mounted rudder and reverse counter transom stern. The layout of the interior consists of a deck access chain locker, followed by forepeak accommodation with upper and lower berths and enclosed head, followed by the main cabin with port side settee, navigation table and quarter berth, convertible dinette, galley and companionway starboard. The aft cabin has a Port side double, storage lockers and enclosed head with shower. Access to the machinery space is behind cabinetry beneath the cockpit sole.
Designed and built in Cape Town, South Africa at Robertson & Caine and launched in 1989.
Previously owned by a Cape Town, South Africa business owner and his wife. This vessel placed 1st in the 2006, 1,785 mile, Cape Town to St. Helena island race, and 3rd out of 34 entries in the 2009, 3,600 mile Heinken Cape to Bahia/Salvador race. The owners then cruised her in 2009 from Cape Town to Brazil. Eventually, they settled in British Colombia, Canada, where Billy Graham Yachts found the boat for the current Canadian owners.
The current owners purchased Good as Gold in April 2010, eventually cruising the BC coast and the South Pacific, to her current location ready for the next owners in Vanuatu. To quote the current owners "as first time sailboat boat owners and offshore cruisers, she is an awesome and forgiving offshore vessel"
