70 Santa Cruz 70s are remarkably easy to sail and are the best big boat for a family and friends to race and they keep winning too. For anything bigger, it is appropriate to hire pros and anything smaller isn't a "big boat." She has won the Chicago Mackinac Race twice overall and the current owner is the record holder for the most Chicago Macs sailed ever, that being 66. Being SC 70 #8, she is only two boats later than Grand Illusion which has proved extremely fast over time.
Originally known as Drumbeat, this Santa Cruz 70 spent only a few summers in salt water. From there on she spent summers in fresh water and winters in storage. As Cynosure, under her second owner, she was extensively updated with the best of everything. The current owner has done a great job of keeping this yacht both clean and fast.
