J Boats J 40 sailing sloop designed by Rod Johnstone and built by J Boats, USA in 1987. Registration: British (Gibraltar). PRICE RECENTLY REDUCED. The J 40 is noted for its simplicity, speed and ease of handling. This vessel was built in 1987 and had a major refit when the present owner bought her in 2006. Over 60,000 $ was invested in parts alone plus approx. 1650 work hours done in preparation for the blue-water trip she is making at present. Among other works the complete interior was removed, re-varnished and re-installed. All wiring was removed and renewed, as was the plumbing. A new engine and an extensive list of new equipment were fitted. More than 20,000 Euros have been spent in maintenance and upgrades since, including re-spraying the hull and applying an epoxy shield and new anti-fouling on the underwater hull. The boat has sailed with her present owner around 16,500 nm without showing any problems, including crossing the Atlantic from the Caribbean to Europe. She is in excellent shape at present and equipped for any kind of serious blue-water trip. | ||
