Wow! You have to see this boat to believe it! If you had the budget to take a boat that is basically sound, but needs a lot of work and you had a guy that could fix anything and do it right, what would you do. "Hog Penny" has had it done. All new wiring, all new plumbing, all new radar and all new engine. Not just a rebuilt engine, but a top of the line, more powerful more efficient and incredibly quiet Yanmar 8LV 370 engine that moves along comfortably over 20 knots and tops out close to 30.
This boat set a new standard for what you can do with an old Dyer 29. Come and have a look.

Walk Around the deck
Following the series of pictures you can see from the dock the Bow has a nice rise and freeboard typical for the Dyer 29 to keep the bow dry and plow through the oncoming waves. The Varnished Anchor Platform has a stainless burgee base and holds a Stainless Steel Claw Anchor with Stainless anchor chain led to an electric windlass. Varnished toe rail around the perimeter of the deck. Soft Grey non-skid on semi-gloss white deck. Stainless handrails on cabin top with a solar vent in the forward hatch.
Varnished wood frame around opening forward windows with electric windshield wipers port and starboard. On the Hard Top Roof are two Stainless Handrails and the Radar with Anchor/Running light.
Moving aft, the handrails on the rooftop are easy to reach and allow secure access to the open cockpit. The engine box is well forward allowing plenty of room for a Teak Bench aft and the current owner carries an ice chest behind the engine box to serve as an additional seat as well as quick access to cold drinks and food items. Off the transom is a teak swim platform with swim ladder.
There is a helmsman's and a companion adjustable seat. Both can swivel around from driving forward to joining the conversations with guests.
The biggest advantage of this layout is the versatility it offers; from entertaining a crowd of friends to making the trip around the great loop. It's ideal for an older couple that want to head south for the winter or a young family that wants to spend time on the water on the 4th of July.
Walk Through Below
Access below comes with lifting the Teak companionway cover and placing it just to port where it becomes the chart table in front of the companion seat. The double louvered teak doors fold and lock back and allow access below.
On the port side is the galley which has a beautiful teak and holly counter top with a storage area behind and a stainless sink with petal powered water. Underneath the counter top is storage and the air conditioning unit.
Forward is the Vee Berth with an insert and cushion to make a large double bed comfortable for 2 people to sleep with shelving on either side.
On the starboard side is the head with varnished teak seat and cover.
Bottom Painted with Micron CSC
Topsides Painted with DuPont Imron
Cabin top and deck painted with Alwgrip
