Designer's Comments: The Frers 30 is the third yacht we have designed for Carroll Marine. This continuing relationship between desgner and builder allows us to maintain a continuity of design while developing new ideas.

As a designer it is gratifying to have free reign to create, within a realistic set of parameters. The 30 is a small - high performance offshore yacht, not a daysailer. As such, we have given her the same careful attention to detail as out larger yachts, including our latest elliptical keel and rudder shapes on a carefully thought out hull form. Recognizing that as boats get smaller, crew weight and placement have an increasing effect on performance, the 30 has a more dinghy-like hull with greater proportional beam than her larger sisters. The deck is laid out to allow the boat to be sailed with the crew in optimum position. Fast, stiff boats that track well not only make for great racing, but they are also the best cruisers.

A true yacht has an element of artistry about it and no rating rule or current fad should eclipse the beauty of the work.
