The Broom Solent was developed from the Broom 35 Sedan by John Bennett at C.J Brooms & Son, originally for B.A.Peters Ltd. of Chichester for sale into the solent to compete with boats like the Princess 35. This boat retained the aft cockpit of the Sedan but has a substantially different internal layout and flybridge. There were approximately 10 built from 1985 to 1988.
Forward cabin consists of the owners stateroom with a centre island double berth, there is ample hanging and stowage space. Access to the heads offering en-suite facility.
Heads on the port side has a moulded fibreglass unit comprising sink, cabinet and shower with a manual sea toilet connected to holding tank.
Galley is set to port comprising a stainless steel sink/drainer with hot and cold taps, gas hob/oven/grill, fridge and plenty of storage cupboards.
Second cabin is opposite the galley on the starboard side with twin bunks 6'5" in length.
Saloon is up steps from the galley with L shaped seating to starboard with a long run of storage space and drinks cabinet opposite. The interior helm position is situated on the starboard side forward of the seating.
Aft cockpit is reached through sliding doors. Bench seating aft with the cockpit enclosed by a custom cover.
Flybridge is accessed by ladder from cockpit and comprises twin helm seat and further L shape seating aft. Full engine controls and instrumentation.
