FROM THE ORIGINAL BROCHURE:
“The Solway 62’, CUSTOM ROBERT PERRY DESIGNED YACHT, is a brawny yacht conceived, designed and built to go through the roughest seas the world’s oceans can conjure, safely and securely while pampering her crew.
Built to the stringent on-site inspection of Lloyds 100A1 standards, the complex, engineered grid of stringers and floors, together with her integral tanks, deck beams and heavy scantlings, make the SOLWAY 62, the brute she is.
The 81’ mast, heavily stayed and almost 1700 square feet of working sail, together with her optional hydraulics, electric winches and bow thruster make her a true lady to sail with a small crew, whether in the light airs of Long Island Sound or beating into a gale in the Bay of Biscay.
The interior reflects famed British skill with wood. One master craftsman builds and hand-carves the solid 3/-4 inch teak doors, drawers and hatch coamings. The interior layout is the direct result of her designer’s experience, coupled with the concept of a yacht specifically designed for the self-indulgent owner.
Thus, she is a yacht for those who can afford the best and who realize that civilized living requires space and only a few select companions onboard.
Designed in America by the creative “DEAN OF CRUISING YACHT DESIGNERS”, Robert Perry, and built in England by old-world craftsmen, the SOLWAY 62 has, from the beginning, been a cooperative effort to bring the best available to the discerning yachtsman. Equipment from Rondal, Lewmar, Goiot and Perkins, installed to Lloyds standards, assures the ultimate cruising machine.
Intended to be a world class cruising yacht, the SOLWAY 62 will take you anywhere. Hull lines are fair, with low- wetted surface, a long sailing length and she has the keel area needed for superior upwind performance. The rudder is mounted behind a large skeg to assure ease of steering and positive tracking".

The result of this team, is a well-executed, sterling design, first formed by a hull with sweet, easily driven lines, which is most pleasing to the eye and incorporating the ability of this yacht to sail a couple or a family, in the world’s most popular cruising waters.
It is in the accommodations that her true quality is most apparent. On entering from the companionway, one is surrounded by a most lovely décor of fine tropical woods and luxurious fabrics. From the gleaming teak and holly sole to her tasteful overheads, one is impressed by the care and thought that her master builders have given to EVERY DETAIL. There are no compromises, as a yacht of this quality should reflect her owners requirements and fine taste.
BUILT AS A CUSTOM – 3-CABIN LAYOUT AND KEPT AND MAINTAINED IN METICULOUS CONDITION BY A COUPLE AND USED ONLY SEASONALLY, 4 MONTHS, FOR MARINA HOPPING & LIGHT CRUISING!!!!!
In her third ownership, her many custom features and specs stem from the personal experience of her original owner, combined with the loving care and upgrades of her current owner. Few yachts have the benefit of being owned and maintained under such expert eyes.

ACCOMODATIONS & LAYOUT:
“ENDURANCE” was custom built for liveaboard comfort and privacy in 3 PRIVATE STATEROOMS. Starting most forward, and just aft of the chain locker, is a forward V-berth with filler cushion. There are 2 large under counter storage lockers with double doors, a drop down folding yacht step, to give the shorter crew a boost up to the thick comfortable custom mattress. The bulkheads are off-white laminate with beautiful teak trim in the classic Herrschoff New England style of yacht interiors.
There are brass reading lamps, a large overhead hatch with a drop down folding yacht step on the aft bulkhead of the V-berth, for access to the forward deck if desired. There is a good sized air conditioning outlet for maximum comfort as well.
Next aft to port the crews head, with hot and cold pressure water, sink, large storage cabinet behind double teak doors over head, Jabsco electric head and ensuite shower.
Directly across to starboard is a THREE LARGE double door hanging locker/storage cabinets with beautiful arched teak doors with nice big teak ventilators at the bottom, which keeps contents nice and fresh with moving air. There is an additional set of large double arched, teak doors next aft with a large capacity washer/dryer with plenty of storage for cleaning supplies and more. In the locker under the washer/dryer, you will note a large Village Marine watermaker, which gives this yacht 600 gallons of fresh water in 24 hours.
Overhead in this hallway are LED lights, overhead Goiot hatch and additional AC/Heat register outlet.
To port is the guest suite. It features a berth which slides out to make a double, with a custom think mattress. There is a large hanging locker with the same beautiful “cathedral” style teak doors and air vents below, that you will note throughout “ENDURANCE”.
Next to the berth is a lowboy teak dresser with 3 drawers and shelf over, and under the berth, you will find an additional 3 very long drawers. There are brass lamps on the bulkhead and led lights overhead, plus a good sized hatch overhead. At the foot of the berth, there is a large “V” shaped storage locker, plus a wall mounted flat screen TV with double row of bookshelves under.
The guest suite head is a dedicated head for this stateroom. Here you will find a Jabsco Electric head with large storage cabinet behind and an additional locker just forward with molded in sink, large storage cabinet under and ensuite hot and cold water shower. There is bulkhead ducting for the air conditioning/heating with adjustable vent and overhead is an opaque slider under the dorade, again for adjusting airflow.
Next aft is the grand and expansive main salon, huge by all standards at 12’ x 14’, “ENDURANCE’S” primary custom feature amidships. The main salon is definitely the focal point of “ENDURANCE”. Starting forward to port, next to the mast, there is a full height teak cabinet. The upper storage area has a glass door with teak trim and nicely shows crystal wine and water goblets, on 3 teak shelves. The lower cabinet is faced with a teak door and more shelves inside.
To outboard port, there is a large Samsung flat screen TV, which in on brackets and can swing out, tilt and turn for the greatest viewing comfort.
On the forward bulkhead to starboard, there is a low boy with storage under and shelf top cabinet with glass door and a top loading storage area. The settee cushions are covered in a creamy soft leather and are extra thick. Outboard there are 2 cubby storage compartments and a double door cabinet aft, which holds the entertainment center. At the end of the starboard settee is yet another lowboy, this one with 3 drawers and both low boys and the main table have teak fiddles. In front of the settee is a lovely, teak cocktail table with forward opening storage. Behind port and starboard cushions are large storage compartments, some areas with shelves, some specifically for large items.
This custom, luxurious main saloon features a huge, comfortable, port-side, wrap-around dinette, surrounds a large teak table. The cabinet under the table has 2 beautiful curved doors and inside, there is wine and liquor storage in multiple custom fitted, teak separated storage cubbies.
There are overhead LED lights throughout the main salon, curtains on cabin sides of full length ports, hatch overhead, custom teak throughout and built-in hand rails the full length of the ports on both sides. Overhead is off-white with teak battons. Gorgeous teak and holly flooring throughout, with multiple opening floorboard hatches for easy access to bilge and additional systems.
Continuing aft to port is the ships galley. This fabulous galley is what the listing broker would call, ALMOST MORE THAN “U” SHAPED. It is roomy enough to enable 2 people to be preparing gourmet meals, cooking and dish washing, whilst being completely protected from rough seas within a Classic “U” shaped galley PLUS A FORWARD “mini” bulkhead. This wrap around galley design provides maximum safety for the chef, even in the harshest of offshore conditions. One feature, amongst the wonderful attributes of “ENDURANCE’S” galley, from an experienced offshore chef’s point of view, is the EASY ACCESS for conversing with, or providing food to the crew, through an above sink port, which goes directly to the cockpit.
Counterspace is unbelievable and will delight the gourmet chef as well as the captain. Features are 2 deep stainless steel double sinks with removable cover inserts which almost double the working counter area starboard, over and under refig/freezer units, with heavy duty, thickly insulated double doors, abundant above counter storage areas, large under counter lockers, galley utensils which will convey, a Tasco S.S. stove with oven and broiler, TEN galley drawers and a layout that other “yachties” will covet.
Opposite of the galley and on the starboard side of the companionway, is a walkway with 6’6” headroom. Here and to outboard, is the SHIP’S COMMAND CENTER and NAVIGATION STATION. Of special note, is the tremendous size of this dedicated area, almost 8’ in length, designed to house the most modern and comprehensive electronics and communication equipment and with the comfort of the ships Captain/Navigator in mind, when designed. The large chart table will take an unfolded Admiralty chart and the chart storage drawer will hold well over 100 charts.
Starting aft into the navigation area, you will first note a courtesy seat with louvered storage locker behind. The ships circuit and electrical panel, wiring looms and details are literally a work of art. The electrical panel is accessible through a heavy Lexan, hinged door and the execution of all wiring, is second to none and all connections are made to Lloyds standards and can be accessed for easy servicing. There is book storage with removable fiddle, over the panel.
Opposite are large, engine and ships power easy access doors. There are 4 large stainless steel opening and screened ports in this walkway area, 2 ports have direct access to the cockpit for communication and visual access and there are six overhead LED lights as well. Here, the chips brass clock and barometer are immediately accessible to the navigator. Hand holds are abundant along the hallway under the ports.
The Captains Command Center, is as professional as it gets on a private sailing yacht. There is a large double door storage cabinet under the desk-top forward (or to port of the swing out, sit down navigation chair) and a matching storage on the opposite side of the desk. The desk top is huge and will hold complete navigational charts with a lift up lid for storage. Under the lid, is a full length navigation chart drawer. Further aft, to port and starboard in the walk way, there is additional extensive storage in multiple lockers. Cabinetry, closets, cupboards and shelves are in abundance in the navigation walk-way, as it is throughout “ENDURANCE”.
The navigators seat is a folding, swing out dedicated seat with padded seat and back for safety and comfort.
Next aft is the luxurious and sumptuous owners suite, a large stateroom with private head. Upon entering, there are 2 large double doors outboard to starboard, which open into a home sized hanging closet. Overhead there are LED lights, a large opening screened hatch, fixed and opening ports, brass reading lights and dorade vents with sliding Lexan cover, for air flow adjustment.
Her owner´s stateroom has a huge, starboard queen size bed. Next and outboard to port, is a 6 drawer, desktop reading nook, with expansive tripe book shelves, a dedicated dressing or reading seat and additional cabinet and locker storage.
On the forward bulkhead in the aft stateroom, there is a smaller desk top with cabinets, drawer and folding, “tuck-away” seat, identical to the Navigators seat. Above this area is a very large, opening screened, stainless steel port, for verbal and visual access to the cockpit and crew. To port is a full length mirror, cut with the same curve as the doors, another little, but elegant feature.
As you enter the aft head, you will be amazed with the brightness of this well ventilated, tasteful yet functional layout, which truly should be called, not a “head”, but a real, honest to goodness “bathroom”.
Outboard is an oval porcelain sink with hot and cold running water, mirrored sliding doors with storage behind, a large double doored storage area under and an opening screened, stainless steel port above. Directly across, there a Jabsco Electric Head and under foot, teak and holly floor.
Stepping forward into the walk-in shower, you will note, it is a shower tub area. There are teak slats for the seat, storage, yet another port, hot and cold running water AND, the rest of the area is a small tub. The bathroom is easy clean, all finished in the traditional New England “Herrschoff style” white formica with teak trim.
Throughout this highly customized yacht, you will be pleased with the beautifully varnished teak joinery, teak and holly sole and the comforts of a Mega Yacht, including a powerful Cruise Air Chilled Loop air conditioning system, a Hurricane Auxiliary Heating System, extensive light and ventilation with 15-S.S. opening ports, 5-Bomar Hatches, Dorades, and numerous fans.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS: SY ENDURANCE
There are several systems in the vessel, 12 volt DC, 24 volt DC, and 125/250AC. All the systems are independent, but in a way connected.
12Volt DC: This system runs most of the electronics at the nav station, and several other misc. things. There is a 12 volt Group 27 emergency battery that supports limited things in the event of flooding. The generator also has 12 volt start, being the only engine requiring 12 volt. There is a charger that charges both the gen stet battery, and the emergency battery. It is located behind an opening panel in the life raft locker, ahead of the main electrical panel. Other things relying on 12 volts are the power outlets to plug on chargers for cell phones, lamps, ect, and the Hurricane furnace, which is located in the lazerate. It has a 12 volt fuel pump also. Also, the stereos in the master cabin and the guest cabin need 12 volts to work properly. There is a row of breakers, upper half far right row, on the main electrical panel, designated to the 12 volt systems.
24 Volts: This system is the life of the vessel when underway. It comprises of two banks of batteries, each supplying 675 amp hours of use at 100 percent charge. Combined, the total amp hours are 1350. The banks are located under the cabin sole, in the main salon. There is one on each side of the Commander system, each having six 225 amp hour Mastervolt AGM batteries. They were all installed new in Sept 2014. There is a switch under the sole just aft of the step into the forward companionway that selects which bank is to be used, and to shut them off.
These batteries can be charged several ways. There is an engine driven alternator that at peak output charges at 120 amps. Properly switched, it can charge either bank, as well as the engine starting batteries. There are also two Mastervolt Mass 24-100 chargers, run in series to charge the banks. They are control from a control panel at the nav station. All banks can be monitored from there as well.
The upper half of the electrical panel is mostly 24 breakers. There are breakers for all lighting systems, water pumps, and other systems.
125/250 AC System: This system can run on shore power, or with the generator running. The 125 supplies the blowers for the AC system, outlets for the vessel, and entertainment systems . There is a Mastervolt inverter that will run most appliances on 125volts when running silent, but it does consume a lot of amp hours if used frequently.
The 250 supplies power for the chillers in the AC system, the circulation pumps for the same, the charging systems and several other items. Always be sure to have all systems shut down when switching from shore power to gen set, or when powering down/turning on either. Power spikes can cause problems with the system.
The lower half of the control panel id designated to the AC systems. There are breakers to turn shore power on and off, control the output of the inverter, and breakers for all the AC power systems onboard.

It has no e-mail hook-up at this time. It is at nav station, and has no command mike or external speaker. It is tied into the GPS for distress positioning.
Icom VHF: Icom IC-M602 The VHF is at the nav station. It has a command mike at the helm, and also serves as the hailer. It is tied into the GPS for distress positioning.
Satellite Telephone: There is a Sea-Tel sat system on board, would need to be activated. Worked well when used last, 2014.
AIS: Digital Yacht AIT1000 Class B, tied into the Navnet system to display all AIS capable traffic.
The GP-32, The VHF, and the SSB are all able to be powered by an emergency battery, located ahead of the electrical panel on the starboard side. This provides for emergency capabilities in the event of flooding below the cabin sole, rendering the house bank unusable.
