A personal favorite! Phillipe Briand drew this design originally for Jeanneau as the Sun Fizz 39, a very successful performance charter boat in the Med and Caribbean. O'day bought the molds, had Ray Hunt stretch it to include a swim platform and improve the interior design, then released it under their name as the O'day 40.
Briand's racing background translates into super performance on any point of sail, and easy to drive! Nice interior layout, too.

The boat is in overall fair to good condition, but needs some TLC, and new interior cushions. The owner has enough new Sunbrella fabric to cover all the upholstery below decks, add new cockpit enclosure with new vinyl window material, as well as replace the dodger including zippers and new Stataglass 40 window glass. She has been sitting on the hard and shows no sign of blisters of any size. There is a ding on the leading edge of the keel that the owner says was there when he bought the boat in 2010 and there appears to be no obvious additional damage to the boat.
She offers a discerning buyer the chance to get a well designed and basically equipped boat for a very good price.
A bright, airy interior with 6'4" headroom throughout! The forward stateroom has a large vee berth, with storage in lockers, drawers, shelves and bins. There's a head/shower to port and additional storage to starboard. The salon features a dinette to port and single settee to starboard. The U-shaped galley is aft and to port, the nav station to starboard. The aft stateroom has a queen thwartship berth, large hanging locker. There's a small chest-type freezer installed there, too, a handy addition to the large refrigeration space in the galley.
Owners report the following: Upholstery shows wear; ding in leading edge of the keel (no evidence of any other damage to the keel or hull stub).
