COMMENTS:

 

From the legendary Kanter Marine in Canada, MIAPLACIDUS was launched in 1986 to designs by Dieter Empacher and built in the finest quality aluminium. Empachers passion for quality, consistency and common sense developed from him time as chief naval architect with Ted Hood’s design group resulted in a hull and deck that is fair, solid and stiff and surprisingly quick.

 

Her highly efficient keel-centreboard allows MIAPLACIDUS true ‘go-anywhere’ sailing whilst 12.7 tons of ballast ensures that she is stiff and stable to sail in any ocean.

In her first two ownerships MIAPLACIDUS was used sparingly for just one or two weeks each year, yet professional maintained throughout. Her current owner purchased her in 2003 and has used her for crewed charter and private sailing taking in three trans-Atlantic crossing and extensive cruising in the Mediterranean, taking her ashore every winter for routine maintenance and updates.

The stunning Kanter 65 was created to offer both impressive performance and ease of operation as well as truly exceptional luxury and style, satisfying the sailing requirements of even the most discriminating owners. To ensure peace of mind, the Kanter 65 also demonstrates Kanter’s true dedication to comfort and safety. 

 

The Kanter 65 is constructed of high-strength welded aluminum alloy. The hull, deck and superstructure are integrated to provide maximum strength, while welded, watertight aluminum bulkheads fore and aft provide additional strength and safety. The Kanter 65 also offers a shallow draft keel/centerboard configuration which provides optimum comfort during high-performance cruising as well as access to shallow anchorages.  The vessel’s rudder features an elliptical edge to give her truly impressive steering control in all conditions.  

 

Designed by leading international naval architect Dieter Empacher, the design of the Kanter 65 presents a classic profile that gives way to a more modern sheer with stylish transom design. The flush deck and low cabin profile are reminiscent of a racing yacht with a clean foredeck for easy sail-handling or comfortable lounging.  Sail-handling technology has advanced to such a level that sailing the Kanter 65 with a limited crew remains a viable option. 

 

Below the waterline, the design promises responsive handling and strong performance. The shallow draft keel and high ballast-to-displacement ratio allows for a comfortable motion at sea, while the length of the root chord gives excellent tracking stability. The centerboard shape is optimized to provide maximum lift-to-drag ratio. The Kanter 65 is tailor-made for both the cruising yachtsman who loves the exhilaration of speed and the IMS racing enthusiast who also loves the joy of cruising. 

 

The Kanter 65’s watertight engine room houses all essential equipment – including the engine, generator, air conditioner and fresh-water system – and is totally insulated for superior in-cabin sound dampening and above-deck comfort. The Kanter 65’s practical, intelligent design ensures the layout and selection of mechanical and electrical systems makes routine upkeep simple and convenient. 

 

In keeping with its status as a world-class yacht, the interior of the Kanter 65 was designed to be stylish, functional, comfortable and totally customizable, giving you the freedom to create the yacht of your dreams. In fact, All Kanter yachts are custom-built to reflect each owner’s personal style. The cabin sole is teak and holly and interior choices range from traditional cabinetry boasting cherry, ash or optional teak finishes to more contemporary options for a more urbane feel. 

 

The Kanter 65’s spacious interior layout is bathed in natural light from plentiful windows, contributing to an invigorating sense of openness. The attention to detail continues with en suite heads that are adorned with ceramic accessories and showers that are detailed with ceramic tile.
