TrouBlemaker Is A Nice Example Of A J/34 IOR Racer!
Owned by an experienced and knowledgeable sailor.
Comes with large sail inventory and lots of "Go Fast" enhancements.
Optimized for racing, yet has comfortable cruising abilities and amenities.
The J/34 was originally conceived and designed to compete under the IOR handicap rule that was popular in the 1970's and 1980's. This model fit into the "3/4 Ton" class of the day and was actively raced at IOR events up until the demise of the rule in the late 1980's.
Since then, the J/34 has transitioned seamlessly into a stable, fast and comfortable performance cruiser that is perfect for PHRF racing, day sailing or coastal cruising with friends and family.

While the interior of the J/34 was designed to address the basic needs of a racing boat, this particular boat was equipped with the optional V-berth and quarter berth rather than the standard pipe berths.
The layout of the interior is functional with a V-berth, walk-thru head forward and two settee berths in the main salon aft of a centralized galley. The 18hp Volvo engine is located just under the companionway ladder with quarterberths to both port and starboard. The galley includes a 2-burner Origo stove, built-in icebox and a stainless steel sink with foot pump. The interior cushions are in a sturdy blue fabric. The cabin sole is teak and holly plywood.

Sails & Rigging
The J/34's design takes into consideration the need for excellent light air performance. As such, her high aspect masthead rig and light displacement should result in equally good performance, both upwind and downwind. While the design concept of the J/34 is similar to the J/41 (low freeboard, wide decks, high aspect masthead rig, low wetted surface, long effective sailing length for the rating and appearance), the shape is not precisely scaled down and is improved.
- Double in-line spreader masthead aluminum rig
- High aspect mainsail and overlapping headsails
- Running rigging is Navtec rod with open body Navtec turnbuckles
- Spar package was built by Hall Spars
