Built by Hallberg Rassy in 1986, "Somer Lady" is a good example of this popular little motor sailor which has proven to be every bit as capable as her larger stable mates.. The Kutter 94 offers the best of both worlds combining a powerful 43hp Volvo turbo diesel with good sailing performance and offers the kind of build quality one has come to expect from Hallberg Rassy. Built in 1986 by Hallberg Rassy Yachts in Sweden.
Hull and deck constructed of traditional, hand laminated, GRP mouldings finished with a off-white gelcoat with the signature Hallberg Rassy navy blue stripe. Hull topsides are laminated similarly and also finished in off-white. Traditional teak laid decks including cockpit sole and seating.
Spars and Rigging
Masthead rigged sloop. Aluminium mast and spars manufactured by Selden. Finished in silver anodising including whisker pole. All standing rigging of 1x19 stainless steel with roll swage terminals, standing rigging replaced completely in 2007. Slab reefing mainsail and roller furling genoa.
All sails were laundered and inspected in the last 12 months.

The decks and cockpit are finished in a laid teak deck with the coachroof being of moulded fiberglass with a gelcoat finish, the coachroof top has a moulded non-slip pattern. A stout teak capped toe rail runs the full length of the vessel
Bow rollers allow storage of the CQR anchor and mooring simultaneously. Mounted aft of the sizable chain locker the Lofrans manual windlass is fitted with chain gypsy and capstan drum.
Wide side decks run aft making moving around the deck easy for crew in all weathers. Robust solid timber handrails are fitted the full length of the coachroof forward of the windscreen and substantial deck mounted stanchions support the guard wires providing the crew with as much protection as possible.
A fixed Cabin top combined with deep moulded coamings to shelter the cockpit and provide crew with protection in poor weather. The cockpit is spacious for a boat of its size, the steering position to starboard sheltered by the cabin. A cockpit tent is fitted, extending aft from the cabin top to cover the complete cockpit area; fitted with windows it allows the cockpit to be used as additional living space regardless of weather. A varnished tiller is provided which fits simply onto the rudder stock allowing the helmsman to come out of the wheelhouse in fine weather.
With Hallbery Rassy's reputation for quality "Somer Lady" is no exception with a high standard of interior fit out throughout. The use of high quality solid mahogany, finished in a deep satin varnish creating a very traditional and cosy feel to the living space.
The forepeak provides a large double V-berth with infill section converting to a full width double. With the infill removed a clear standing area is provided aft. Storage is provided in shelves running the full length of the berth along the hull side. A large opening deck hatch floods the cabin with natural light.
The generously proportioned heads compartment is located to port aft of the "V" berth. Fitted out with marine toilet, discharging overboard or through the holding tank, a china sink and vanity unit with hot and cold running water and shower head adds a touch of class relative to the boats size.
The main saloon has a very traditional feel and with light pouring in through the portlights the space feels very open and comfortable creating the illusion of being on a far larger boat. Bench style settees run down either side of the cabin with the drop leaf saloon table being centrally mounted in the cabin. Both seating units convert into generously sized single berths with the seat back lifting up to provide an additional width and on the portside an additional infill section creates a cosy double berth if required. Both saloon settee berths are fitted with lee cloths and serve as good sea berths when on passage. The back rests on both sides have been strengthened and fitted with a lee cloths to serve as additional childs bunks in the elevated position if required. Storage is provided throughout the saloon with a variety of lockers for necessary provisions.
Aft of the main saloon to starboard is the L-shaped galley with double stainless steel sink, 2 burner gas cooker, top loading fridge and a good assortment of storage lockers.To port of the galley is the very well equipped nav station with chart table, bosuns locker and easily accessible navigation instrumentation.
A 43 hp Volvo 2003T is located under the cockpit floor with access via a hatch above providing excellent all round access for routine maintenance. This powerful, turbocharged, three cylinder diesel engine is ideally suited to a motor sailing vessel such as this, providing the necessary power to deal with adverse weather conditions aided by the 3 bladed propeller; a rope cutter is fitted on the shaft.
