RARE opportunity to own a completely outfitted cruiser / racer, owned and outfitted by a very experienced yachtsman. Ghoster (ex- French Bred) was purchased in 2005 and outfitted for cruising Mexico with over $180,000. in custom cruising equipment and upgrades!. She is a turn key performance cruiser for someone looking to take off to the South Pacific or Mexico on a fun and attractive Frers design. As French Bred, she was the most winning Beneteau racer in Southern California. Her current owner has spared no expense to upgrade everything on the boat with the most reliable offshore cruising equipment, electronics, complete new electrical system, interior decor and woodwork, and safety equipment. She is conveniently located at Sunroad Resort Marina, just across from the San Diego airport. **Please note, this is not your average First 42.

WHY GHOSTER IS THE PERFECT PASSAGE MAKER
Ghoster is the 7th boat my wife and I have owned over the 44 years we have been married. We bought Ghoster in 2005 specifically to sail theSea ofCortez, and she has met our every expectation, combining speed and seaworthiness with creature comfort.
According to the survey Ghoster had been well maintained by her previous owner with little evidence of wear to her hull or rigging. Even so we spent $184,000 to put her in like new condition, replacing everything from the keel bolts and seacocks to the wiring and electronics. The end result was a reliable boat I consider the perfect passage maker.
The Beneteau First 42 was the only boat I researched that met all of the requirements on my bucket list.
Well designed. Designed by German Frer, it is similar to the Frer designed Nautor Swans with the same sloping coach roof, beautiful sheerline and graceful entry.
Solidly built. Built in France, Ghoster is built with a grid system that reinforces and stiffens the hull and an underbody design that keeps her stiff in heavy seas. Her balsa core construction gives her additional strength and insulation while keeping her quiet below and condensation free.
Fast in light air. Ghoster is the tall rig version of the First 42. The taller mast is balanced with a deeper keel to give her a larger fore triangle without any loss of stability. With the larger headsail she drives with power and speed even in very light air.
Points well to windward. Ghoster has oversized standing rigging designed with the shrouds placed well inside the railing to allow her headsail to be sheeted closer to the centerline. The result is a boat that points extremely high when close hauled.
Single-handed sailing. All the running gear leads to the cockpit and both headsails are roller furled making her easy to single-hand in any weather condition.
Aft cockpit. I like the feel of an aft cockpit, being close to the water and seeing the full length of a boat when I am at the helm. The large “T” shaped cockpit has a storage area below the sole covered with a teak grating that provides ventilated storage for extra fuel and gas or storage for an inflatable. There is a deep storage locker under the starboard seat for sails and lines, and two smaller ones under the helmsman’s seat.
Traditional interior design. The traditional interior design and beautiful woodwork provide comfort in port and practicality at sea. The “G” shaped galley is the perfect shape for cooking at sea. The large chart table is placed athwart ship for stability at sea with ample room for large charts and a computer. The two, midship pilot berths at 6 ½ feet provide comfort at sea with minimal motion in rolling seas.
For us Ghoster has been the perfect boat, and we would still be sailing the Sea of Cortez if it wasn’t for my wife’s advancing arthritis. Whoever is fortunate enough to buy Ghoster will have a reliable passage maker that’s step-aboard ready to take you anywhere in comfort and safety.
