Price reduction! A lot of boat for this money! We believe this boat to be structurally sound. A little TLC and this boat has a lot of upside!
Doug Peterson was one of the most successful designers of performance sailboats during the 70's and 80's. One of his most successful designs was the Peterson 34. The Peterson 38 was derived from the very successful Peterson 34 and this Peterson 38 is one of 5 built by Island Yachts/Marion Hayes. This boat has remained in the Hayes family and is owned by one of Marion's sons. It is available for immediate sale.
Psyched has a very successful race history: Winner of 1999 Bacardi Cup, Harvest Moon overall winner, Consistent winner of numerous Level 70 events on Galveston Bay. PHRF rating of 78, non spin rating of 99. No other boat goes upwind better then Psyched on Galveston Bay (short steep chop). Very fast off the wind. Despite the heavy displacement the boat is a light air killer!!! The running rigging and deck hardware is in great shape with most of it replaced and hardly used in the last 5 years. Mainsail and Kevlar #1 genoa are in very good shape with only 5-7 regattas on them (they are 8 years old though). Boat also has #2, #3, #4, Spinnaker, Blooper. Carbon Fiber spin pole, Navtec hydraulic backstay recently rebuilt. Lewmar 55 3 speed primaries.
Perkins M30 engine runs great. New injectors, new exhaust manifold, rebuilt water pump. New AGM batteries and charging system. Brand new head and all plumbing associated with head. Teak and holly floorboards. Raymarine speed/depth with extra displays. KVH mast mount jumbo digital compass. Custom teak wheel laminated with carbon fiber.
Psyched also has a standing room cabin and for those that like to cruise to their destination fast-This boat should be a candidate.

About the Designer: Doug Peterson
Doug Peterson Sailboats Still Performing!
Doug Peterson is a sailboat designer whose name is synonymous with innovation in the world of racing and cruising yachts. Since the mid-1970s, Peterson’s yachts such as Scarlet O’Hara, Eclips, Cheetah, and the legendary Williwas have cut a winning swath through the world of offshore racing.
In 1976 Peterson sat down and designed the Peterson 34, a racer-cruiser. Peterson said the 34 was built “to deliver about eight people quickly and safely from point A to point B (such as Newport to Bermuda).” Modesty aside, the Peterson 34 has an excellent reputation for windward sailing performance in both light and heavy air. Her fine bow slices through the waves so she does not pound. And thanks to the advanced construction techniques of the era the solid hulls of the Peterson 34s are extremely strong and built to take it in any sea.
The Peterson 34 performes so well on the race course that the boat’s cruiser capabilities are often overlooked. The 1980 Peterson 34’0” available from California Yachts in San Diego right now is an amazing yacht with a gorgeous interior set off by solid hardwood floors. About 92 Peterson 34s were built between 1976 and 1981 in League City, Texas by Island Yacht Corporation, founded by boat builder and rigger Marion Hayes. Whether you want to sail from point A to point B or to point XYZ, the Peterson 34 is a thoroughbred vessel with comfort and turn of speed that can only be found in designs by Doug Peterson.
