Kha Shing King 40

Njord is a 1985 King 40 covered sundeck trawler, built by Kha Shing for the Pacific NW with extra fuel capacity for Alaska.  It was purchased in 1986  at the Seattle Boat show by a person from Northern Minnesota and was cruised on Lake Superior until 2001.  It was stored indoors in the winter.  The boat was sold in 2001 to the present owner and kept on Lake Michigan until 2003.  At that time, the boat made a round trip back to Western Lake Superior, and then taken down the river system, up to Chattanooga, TN, down to Mobile AL, over to the Florida Keys, to the Bahamas and then up the intercostals waterway to the NE shore of the Chesapeake where it was stored in the mostly fresh water Sassafras River.  The boat has made four additional trips to the Bahamas and is maintained in very good condition.  The gel coat is original.  The boat exposure to salt water is less than 4 years.  The boat is similar to other 40 ft Kha Shings in style, but there are substantial differences.  This has the galley up, it has little exterior teak except the swim platform and related ladders.  The cabinet doors on the bridge and the cabinet on the sundeck are also teak but under cover.  It has a 3^rd fuel tank of 80 gal. capacity.  The port holes in the aft cabin are different as are the access doors to the main cabin.  The boat is well equipped and the electronics are up to date.  Many cabinets have lights that turn on with the door.  The Volvo engines have very clean exhaust and you can run your finger around the exhaust and not pick up any soot.  No oil needs to be added to the engines between oil changes.
