S/V Annie is hull number 98 out of the 130 boats built in the HANSA YACHT UND SCHIFFBAU G.M.B.H. yard in Taichung by the German engineer, Herb Guttler.  Some of the best boats ever built, these are world class cruisers, usually found in far oceans.  They are incredibly strong, easy to manage cutter rigged, well behaved boats, that take care of their crews.  Harwood Ives had already designed the Hans Christian 43, 38T, 45 and 38 MKII before the special Hans Christian 33.  He knew what he was doing, and designed a lot of boat in a smaller manageable package.  One glance and you know this is a stout ocean boat, but the boats bult in the Hansa yard are the best, totally solid, the deck is not even cored.  Everywhere you turn, you see thoughtful overbuilt details, and more storage than most 40' boats.  Every teak nook and cranny is thoughtfully used for more storage.  As you move around the boat you will find handholds, precisely where you need them.  The layout fits a lot of details together seamlessly.  The forward head provides access to the chain locker and even a stand-up separate shower. Aft to port is the generous "pullman" berth with massive storage below and on starboard.  The salon provides seating for 4 in the L-shaped settee around the big teak table. Aft of the forward facing nav-station, the starboard settee serves as a great sea berth, and seating for three or more, with easy storage below.  There's an inclosed aft cabin with more storage, and the galley to port.  Again more storage, drawers and cupboards, a top and side opening refer, proper 2-burner stove, deep dry storage, and deep sinks.  The strong industrial Yanmar engine is quietly boxed under the companionway and only uses 2/3 gal/hr. and the engine controls are high and dry.  Batteries and Magnum charger/inverter have all been recently upgraded, to 670 AHs plus a start battery.  There is a Cape Horn windvane and strong below decks autopilot.  The nice dodger is a great Breezy design, somehow almost hiding the bronze & teak boom crutch.  With eight opening port-lights, six dorades with glass boxes, and two large overhead hatches, this boat can go anywhere in comfort.  s/v Annie was designed to prevent snap-rolls and pounding, so you will arrive safely, with less fatigue than most boats.  If you are serious about going far offshore, and not looking for a condo, this rare boat is one you will want to seriously consider.  Make an offer soon. . .
