The Corbin 39 was the result of an effort to design the ideal boat for serious bluewater cruising. It probably came very close to being exactly that. More so than with most other sailboats, you find the Corbin in the hands of people who have made extensive bluewater passages (or were at least planning on doing so). The Corbin's overall length and cutter rig were selected based on the maximum boat that could be handled by a crew of two. The interior of the Corbin attempts to provide the kind of storage and functional living space that would be needed by crew that may be away from a home port for years on end. Seaworthiness is also high on the priority list as demonstrated by the boat's robust construction, skeg hung rudder, an interior steering station, and a relatively small ocean-going cockpit (a wave breaking into a large cockpit can poop the stern of a boat and reduce its aft buoyance). | ||
