The Stingers were a popular line of boats for Murray Chris-Craft. Entire model-year production would sometimes be sold out on announcement for a particular model. As they became more popular, the Stinger began showing up in other places as well. Probably the best know placement of the Stingers was in the Miami Vice television series. The pilot episode featured a 1983 390 X, while the first season featured a 1984 390 X. As many as 4 Stingers may have been used in filming the show.
CONCLUSION The 1985 Chris Craft 260 Stinger, was found in well above average condition for her age and manufacturer. Vessel was repowered with new Mercruiser 383 ci gas inboard engines with new Mercruiser Bravo One outdrives. Engines have only approx.. 25 hrs on them since new. Vessel was completely refinished with custom graphic paint job. Interior has been upgraded. Decks are in good to above average condition. All decks are in safe and serviceable condition. Hull sides and bottom sounded strong with no apparent problems. The transom offered typical high moisture levels but good soundings. All required 12 volt systems functioned other than the signal horn and bilge blower. AC shore power system only serves the battery charger. Vessel was not plugged in to shore power so system was not checked. Fuel tank is properly bonded and plumbed. Tank appeared good as limited access would allow inspection. A good equipment inventory was found.
