The Catalina 38 is a recognized Performance Cruiser. It was the yacht used in the 1980s era Congressional Cup which is still one of match racing's most prestigious events. Originally an S&S design Catalina made significant updates adding a balanced spade rudder, a high-aspect-ratio rig with taller mast & shorter boom. The interior also was reconfigured as a weekender. The 38s maintain the classic performance look with long overhangs, generous tumblehome and a reverse transom. As a result, she is the perfect racer cruiser for the Chesapeake. Her lines will turn heads wherever you go.

Walkthrough and Accommodations
Beginning at the bow is the Forward Cabin with a large comfortable Vee Berth. To the very forward end is a storage locker.. There is a combination of drawers and cabinets on each side of the entry and two more drawers and a cabinet under the Berth plus shelves that run along both hull sides. Lots of space for lots of stuff. There is a large opening Hatch over the berth and a small opening Hatch with an Exhaust Fan installed.
The Head follows aft on port with an aft-facing commode, sink, medicine cabinet and good storage both above and below the counter. There is a beautiful teak sole that compliments the teak mirror. There is both an opening port and an opening hatch also with an exhaust fan.
Across from the Head on Starboard is a large Hanging Locker and a 3 Drawer Bureau with a usable shelf on top.
Next aft is the Saloon with "U" shaped dining on port which converts to make a double berth. On starboard is a long, facing settee. There are matching shelves and cabinets on the hull side above the cushions. A large opening Hatch and Fixed Ports on each side make the Saloon Light and airy.
The Nav Station follows aft on Starboard featuring a good sized desk that has a bank of 3 drawers. The Electric Panels are within easy reach of the navigator.
Across on port is the "U"shaped Galley with a double sink, large dry storage compartment and ice box. There is no stove in this configuration but room to reinstall. There are large open shelves on aft bulkhead and on hull side. Plenty of room for all of your storage.
Three Steps up the on-center Companionway to the long Cockpit that is big enough for sailing, entertaining and napping. There is a deep lazarette on port and a shallow lazarette on starboard. A Helm seat stretches across the stern with both dinghy davits and a swim plaform hanging on the transom.
The Catalina 38 is open, roomy and comfortable with good storage. A very nice performance cruiser.
