Always fresh water sailed boat. Excellent overall condition. All major systems, instruments, and electrical rebuilt. Teak interior and exterior maintained by Jayne Parker. No moisture. Cushions and sail covers are new. Current owner bought boat in 2007 from original owner and has always stored indoor heated at Crowley's Yacht Yard over winters. The boat is a beautiful Carl Alberg design combining the security and stability of a full keel with the handling ease and versatility of a cutter rig. No plastic. No vinyl. Exclusive Cape Dory bronze cleats, chocks, opening ports and deck hardware accentuate her timeless elegance. Her cutter rig is considered to be a most efficient, simple, safe way to sail, especially for the short-handed skipper. Her sailplan includes a mainsail with cabintop traveler, roller furling self-tending staysail, and roller furling 150% genoa on the headstay. All sails are in excellent condition. Inside, her warm teak interior has been meticulously crafted for maximum comfort, convenience and space. She comfortably accommodates five adults overnight. Forward is a private vee-berth with privacy door, seat and abundant storage. Just aft is a private head with shower, sink and vanity, and marine toilet with holding tank. The main cabin area offers a port settee that extends to a double berth, a large starboard settee, bulkhead dinette table, side storage shelves, teak and holly floor, two deck hatches, eight bronze ports with screens, and over six feet of headroom. The aft galley features a large top-loading ice box, deep sink with hot and cold pressure water, stainless water heater with heat exchanger, 2-burner stove with oven, and abundant storage. Outside, the large self-bailing cockpit features teak pedestal/wheel steering, teak coaming boards, two large lockers and stainless bow and stern pulpits with double lifelines. Pedestal features custom teak housing for Garmin touchscreen GPS. Instruments all new Raymarine ST-70 color, fitted in custom teak panel. Cockpit features custom teak captain's seat and stern rail seats. Universal diesel engine has only 51 hours since major overhaul in 2008. All original manuals and much more. Given her history and care, this is a great opportunity.

Sojourner sails well close to the wind for a classic full keel cruising boat. I have sailed for 35 years and specifically looked for the cape dory 30 when I bought Sojourner (previously owned a Cape Dory 25) because of the high quality sailing performance paired with the stability of a full keel cruising boat. I have mostly day sailed with my wife and young kids, although I know I have had her in the 6-7 knots range in a reach just pleasure sailing with family.
The Cape Dory 30 is a great heavy weather boat and ideally suited for short handed sailing for a boat this size. In particular, sailing with only the cutter sail and main gives good boat speed without the need to tend the headsail at all. I modified the cutter rigging to replace the club boom with a furler a couple of years ago so it can be set from the cockpit and set without significant adjustment when tacking.
To get best boat speed you would need both the genoa and cutter head sails deployed however. The main sail is also rigged to control raising and lowering from the cockpit. The below deck smart drive auto pilot (very expensive compared to belt drive) is great when getting under way and setting sails. It does not have a boom vang. Let me know if you need additional information.
